CCMC576 Seasonal Wreaths

It's Thursday, and that means it's Challenge time again over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com.
This week is a sketch challenge, and this is the sketch we had to work with:

I have a sneak peek for you today! In just a few days (September 4), you'll be able to view the Holiday Catalogue. Among the pages, you will find this set - called Seasonal Wreaths. As you can see, it's a set that is not limited to Christmas! I've used the colour scheme of Rococo Rose, Gray Granite and Soft Seafoam. I stamped the wreath in Gray Granite and coloured it with my Blends.

A few things take this card to the next level:
  • I used 2 embossing folders on this card - Brick and Mortar on the background piece and Subtle on the stamped panel (after I stamped and coloured).
  • Rococo Rose 1/2" (1.3 Cm) Scalloped Linen Ribbon makes a cute trim for the sentiment panel.
  • I also swirled some Silver Metallic Thread behind the sentiment as well.
  • I spattered the card with Champagne Shimmer Paint for a dash of sparkle.
I hope you like my card. Check out what the other talented stampers have come up with HERE. Don't forget you can play along over on the facebook page!

Pressed Petals in a ShoeBox

One of my favourite events of the whole year was on over the weekend - my team Stamp Camp Retreat. I've been running these since 2009 (!!!). There were 36 of us this year and we had a whole lot of laughing, crafting...and not much sleeping!

This was my ShoeBox Swap. We had 10 Shoebox Swaps for everyone to make over the course of the weekend. All the ingredients for making a card are included in each box, including pre-cut cardstock. It's great to be able to sit down and make 10 cards without having to think/plan/design. All the hard work is done for you!

I used products rom the Pressed Petals Suite for my card - Washi tape, Designer Series Paper and Floral Centers. Can you believe that realistic looking flower is made from Washi Tape? The individual petals are on a roll, and you simply peel them off to make a flower.

TIP: I like to adhere mine to a 1/2" circle, and then use an embossing buddy to 'un-sticky' the petals. I popped a floral centre in the middle, coloured with Blends.

You can see all the other products I used listed below. Thanks for visiting!

Beautiful Friendship Thanks

I made a batch of these cards for my customer thank you cards last month. I've had a super busy month, so I needed a quick and simple design. I reached immediately for my Beautiful Friendship set, chose a pretty piece of Designer Series Paper, and the rest just happened. My colour combo is Coastal Cabana, Purple Posy, Highland Heather, Old Olive and So Saffron.

Here's a nifty tip - I cut my DSP pieces slightly too narrow, and they were a bit hidden under the nested label. Rather than waste them, I cut them into thirds and spaced them apart.

And another tip: I wanted a small piece of ribbon under the sentiment, but didn't have any in So Saffron. Instead, I pulled out my Ribbon Border Punch and let just a small amount peek out under the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by!

CCMC575 Rustic Painted Harvest

It's Thursday, and that means it's Challenge time again over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com. This week is a colour challenge, and these are the colours we had to work with:

For this week's challenge, I decided to pull out a set I hadn't used in a while - Painted Harvest. These sunflowers are just so cheery and I think these colours work really well for them. Confession Time - I did cheat a little, and added an extra colour - just a dash of Sahara Sand to make it a little more rustic. I stamped Birch background in Sahara Sand (stamped off) and also stamped the sunflower centres in Sahara Sand over the top of the Terracotta Tile. I also sponged the edges of the sentiment in Sahara Sand.

OK, confession over, and on with some other details about this card:
  • I used Braided Linen Trim on this card - the perfect rustic embellishment.
  • I ran my stamped panel through the Big Shot with the Pinewood Planks embossing folder
  • The sentiment (from Perennial Birthday) has been punched out using the Timeless Label Punch. I shortened it by inserting it back into the punch and re-punching
I hope you like my card! Check out what the other talented stampers have come up with HERE. Don't forget you can play along over on the facebook page

A Good Man - Part 3

Here is my final A Good Man card. Again I've used the Come Sail Away Paper and coloured with my Blends. This time I've gone with more of the green tones.

The sentiment on this card really speaks to me - I have always felt so grateful that I grew up loved. It is a privilege that all children deserve, but far too many miss out on.
So that's all three of my A Good Man cards, in plenty of time for Father's Day!

And here is the full set:

A Good Man - Part 2

As promised, here is my second A Good Man card. This image took me back to my own childhood - I can still remember the feeling of riding on my Dad's and Grandad's shoulders, feeling like the king of the world. And I have seen my kids on their Dad's and Grandad's shoulders too, enjoying the same feeling.
I coloured this one in some earthy tones, taken from the Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper - Soft Suede, Sahara Sand and Mossy Meadow. I gave the patterned paper the Subtle embossing folder treatment for some added texture. I coloured the image with my Blends, and popped some co-ordinating twine for a bit of embellishment.

I'll be back soon with Card #3!

CCMC574 Soft Spring

It's Thursday, and that means it's Challenge time again over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com.
This week is a sketch challenge, and this is the sketch we had to work with:

It's been so cold here, especially over the past week, so I think I'm subconsciously willing Spring to come! This stamp set is called Soft Spring, and you can find it on page 205 in the Host Rewards section. It's so soft and pretty, so I've used some soft and pretty colours - Highland Heather, Mint Macaron and Purple Posy. I also used Black for a bit of 'oomph'.

Here are a few more details about this card:
  • I used the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder on the background
  • The sentiment is from Beautiful Day
  • The Mint Macaron 1/4" (6.4mm) Textile Ribbon adds a touch of texture
  • Of course a Stitched Shapes Circle is way better than a plain one!
  • The Gingham paper is from the Subtles 6x6 pack
  • It's hard to tell in the pic, but the dragonfly and flowers are all sparkly, thanks to some glue and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter
I hope you like my card. Check out what the other talented stampers have come up with HERE. Don't forget you can play along over on the facebook page!

It's Blog Hop Time Again!

Welcome to another Stampers Anonymous Team Blog Hop! I missed last month as I was still overseas, but happily I can join in again this month.
For August we have a Colour Challenge. You can make the complete circuit and see all the lovely creations by following the links at the end of each post.

Here is what I made with these 5 colours:

I pulled out my favourite stamp set at the moment, Beautiful Friendship. I just started stamping random flowers, and then added leaves to fill in some gaps. Then I ran the whole sheet through the Big Shot with the Subtle Embossing Folder. It gives a lovely linen texture.

Rather than opting for plain cardstock, I used the Neutrals 6x6 DSP stack for my Basic Grey mat. I also stamped my sentiment in Basic Grey, and punched it out with the Story Label punch. I punched another Story Label in Basic Grey, snipped it in half and matted it behind. I popped a Frosted Epoxy Droplet on each side.

I love the Polka Dot Tulle ribbon for adding a subtle, whimsical element to a card.

Well, that’s it from me. Thanks for stopping by! Click on the button below to move to the next stop:
