CCMC486 Colour me Happy Lanterns

It's Thursday, and that means it's Challenge time again over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com.
This week is a sketch challenge, and this is the sketch we had to work with:

I've kept my card very clean and simple this week. I pulled out my Blends and Color Me Happy stamp set again, this time using the lantern images. I coloured one in Pumpkin Pie and one in Night of Navy. I used a couple of Designer Series Paper scraps in co-ordinating colours to anchor them. I wanted to add some real strings, but the Solid Baker's Twine was a little too thick, so I've just separated a couple of strands. I also popped the lanterns up on dimensionals.

I hope you like my card. Check out what the other talented stampers have come up with HERE. Don't forget you can play along over on the facebook page!

Whimsical Ornaments

I love working with non-traditional colours for Christmas. For this card I've used Basic Black, Whisper White and Berry Burst. I always like to have some black and white patterned paper in my stash. It's great to use as is, but it's also fun to add colour too. Here I've sponge brayered the Merry Music paper with Berry Burst ink. I started at the bottom and worked my way up to create an ombre effect.
How cute are these ornaments? They are part of the Hostess set in the Christmas Catalogue. You can choose this set as part of your Stampin' Rewards for an order over $250. I added just a touch of colour with a Berry Burst marker and a light watercolour wash.

CCMC485 Colour me Eclectic

It's Thursday, and that means it's Challenge time again over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com.
This week is a colour challenge, and these are the colours we had to work with:

I love these deep, rich colours. I decided they would be perfect for some pretty flowers and leaves.
  • I've actually used 2 different stamp sets for my flowers - Color Me Happy and Oh So Eclectic
  • I've coloured the Bermuda Bay flowers using my Blends markers and I used a sponge dauber to add some soft colour to the Berry Burst flower
  • I re-used a favourite sketch from a few challenges ago for my layout.
  • The Stitched Shapes framelits make the perfect circle accent.
  • The strip of DSP is from the Merry Little Christmas paper pack.
I hope you like my card. Check out what the other talented stampers have come up with HERE. Don't forget you can play along over on the facebook page!

Trim your Stocking Stamp-a-Stack

This week I am holding my final classes for the year... I know, can you believe it?? December gets a little too crazy to try and fit classes in but don't worry I'll still be blogging and crafting my little heart out!

I love Christmas crafting and always like to finish off the year with some Christmas cards.
We're using the Trim your Stocking thinlits and stamps to make these cards.
These dies make really cute 3D stockings, with a pillow box backing, but they are also the perfect size for cards. I used the Quilted Christmas Designer Series Paper Stack to cut out my stocking and all the bits and pieces to go with them. There's really sweet bells, holly, stars, snowflakes, hearts and trims in this die set. So much fun!
