CCMC589 Puff Paint Pines

It's Thursday, and that means it's Challenge time again over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com. This week is a colour challenge, and these are the colours we had to work with:

I have another Christmas card to show you today. I love these colours for Christmas - red and green with a twist! The Coastal Cabana makes it a lot more modern. 

Here are a few tips and tricks about this card:

• The striped pattern is from the Let it Snow DSP
• I used the Pine Tree Punch to punch 2 trees from the DSP. The 3rd Shaded Spruce one is from cardstock. 
• I added Puff Paint to my trees for some fun texture
• The largest Stitched Shapes Circle is the perfect frame for my little forest
• I added a Mini Library Clip and some Baker's Twine for a cute little embellishment. 
• The sentiment is from the Perfectly Plaid stamp set. I used Stampin' Write markers to ink it up in 2 colours. 
• I CaSEd the Perfectly Plaid card on page 3 of the Holiday Catalogue

Simple Magnolia

Just a super simple card to share with you today. Some strips of DSP, a pop of lace and an embossed sentiment. When the paper is this pretty, you really don't need much more!

Beautiful Bouquet Bunch

I was commissioned to make this card for a special lady's 'big' birthday, from a group of her friends. I love creating bunches of flowers with the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set. I just played around with different combinations of colours and flowers until I was happy with the result. Hopefully she was happy with the result too!

CCMC588 Christmastime is Here

This week is a sketch challenge, and this is the sketch we had to work with:

This week I decided to play with the new Christmastime is Here Suite. The only stamping on this card is the sentiment (from Itty Bitty Christmas). The rest is snipped from the beautiful Christmastime is Here Designer Series Paper. I'll be using this long after Christmas is over! 

I've also used the stunning Gold Shimmer ribbon, and a few Gold Glitter Enamel Dots.

It's a very simple card, but this paper makes it so elegant.

Magnolia Butterflies

I love using the Subtle Embossing Folder to enhance and change the look of DSP. It adds a linen look that reminds me of fabric. I think these Magnolias work really well well with the butterflies from Butterfly Wishes. I fussy cut the Mossy Meadow butterfly and stamped the Petal Pink one on a Stitched Shapes circle. Simple, but stylish.

Wild About Pandas

If this card looks familiar, have a quick look at page 101 of the Annual Catalogue and you will see an elephant version! The Wildly Happy stamp set is just adorable.
I think my favourite part of this card is the tiled look of the Tailored Tag punched pieces. I punched from the Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper. These colours remind me of Bamboo...perfect for my Pandas.

CCMC587 Snowfront Scene

It's Thursday, and that means it's Challenge time again over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com. This week is a colour challenge, and these are the colours we had to work with:

 

I just love the Snowfront stamp set in the Holiday Catalogue, and I decided to challenge myself to use it to make a card that was neither Christmassy or snowy. These colours are perfect for that ... outdoorsy and a bit rustic.  

 

I stamped my scene on a large circle, and then did some sponging to soften the ground and sky. I also sponged the other panels. The Pinewood Planks embossing folder is the perfect complement for this natural scene.

 

The sentiment on this card is from the Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set, and I've finished it off with some Braided Linen Trim.

Magnolia Frame

One of the first things I wanted to make when I got my Magnolia Lane products was a 3D, lifelike magnolia. This is the result! I decided it was a bit bulky for a card, so I took the glass out of a frame and popped it in there. I made my magnolia using 3 different punches (listed below). I used a bone folder to curl the petals, and sponged the centres with So Saffron ink.

I was pretty happy with the result. What do you think?
