Springtime Impressions Partial Die-cutting

I'm a bit sad to say goodbye to these Springtime Impressions Dies. They add such a wow factor to a card, and lend themselves to some great techniques too.

The technique I've used here is called Partial Die-cutting. The floral layer is one single piece of cardstock. I die-cut the top half first, then the lower half, leaving a gap in the middle, where I stamped the sentiment (from the Peaceful Moments stamp set). I used Peaceful Poppies DSP for the background. I finished off with a piece of Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding ribbon, and a few rhinestones in the lower centres. I CaSEd this card from a card by Jennifer McGuire.

Black Ice Technique

I am teaching the Black Ice Technique in my classes next week (22nd and 23rd May) and this is one of the cards we are making

If you want to try this technique at home, you’ll need Foil Sheets (I used copper, but you can also use silver or gold). Try not to touch the foil sheet as you might get fingerprint marks. Also Basic Black Archival ink, Versamark ink, Clear embossing powder, the Stamp set of your choice and a Heat Tool
Method:
1. Cut foil sheet to size, and using the inkpad ‘direct to paper’ technique, gently swipe/drag your Basic Black inkpad down the length of the foil piece (tip: use a dab of snail to hold foil piece to your gridpaper to stop it moving around)
2. Stamp your image in Basic Black Archival ink onto the foil piece. Allow to dry (or use heat tool) 3. Use the Versamark inkpad ‘direct to paper’ technique, to VERY LIGHTLY swipe down the length of the foil piece
4. Sprinkle with clear embossing powder, tip off excess and set with heat tool. (tip: if you have been too heavy-handed with the Versamark, lightly dust off some embossing powder before heating it)
5. You can also colour the final result with Blends

I believe Melissa Kerman is the originator of this technique.

Final day of Sale-a-Bration!

It's the last day of Sale-a-bration today. That means it's your last chance to get your hands on some freebies! Pictured above is another Black Ice card that I made using the super popular Heartfelt Blooms stamp set.
I love this one on the Copper Foil. I couldn't decide which colour base to mount this on, but went with Sahara Sand in the end. I think it works quite well. I also sponged the Designer Series Paper in Sahara Sand.

It's always sad when Sale-a-Bration draws to an end, but I must admit that I'm ready for a rest!!

Epic Celebrations in Black Ice

"Black Ice" is a technique that I think originated with Melissa Kerman. You can see her excellent video on Youtube. I've used the Epic Celebrations Sale-a-Bration set to make this card.

To do this technique, you’ll need:
