Something Borrowed

Here's a quick and simple Wedding, Engagement or Anniversary Card. The Something Borrowed Designer Series Paper (page 42 of the Occasions Catalogue) is the star of the show here. You can colour this paper to suit your Wedding colour scheme, but I've just stuck with neutrals here - Sahara Sand and Whisper White. The Sahara Sand Lace Trim is just to die for!
The "Congrats" stamp is from the Simply Wonderful Sale-a-Bration stamp set.

Hooray for Kits!

These are the cards we are making in this week's classes. We are using the "Hooray It's Your Day" Card Kit. I've followed the basic layouts in the instructions, but I've substituted some stamps. I've used the Celebrate Today stamps on my cards.

There's so much included in these kits - they are fantastic value. Even when you've made all the cards you'll have a spritzer, 2 plastic stencils, washi tape and number stickers left over.

In the class, we'll also be exploring the other kits in the Occasions Catalogue, and I'll be showing some tips and tricks for putting them together. I just love all the kits we have on offer. They are perfect for those times when you want to craft without having to stretch the brain too far, and they also make great gifts.

Inspired by the Catalogue

If this card looks familiar, you only have to go as far as page 3 of the Sale-a-Bration brochure to find out why. I'm always telling my customers that our catalogues are full of inspiration, and I like to practise what I preach, so I took my own advice! I only made a few small changes, as I liked it just how it was. I've mounted my front panel on a base card of Coastal Cabana, and I've added a bit of extra visual weight to the ribbon treatment, with a piece of Crushed Curry ribbon. I also substituted the regular tag shape for the new Ornate Tag Topper Punch.

My favourite part of the 'Best Day Ever' stamp set is the dotty background stamp. The bokeh effect is very 'in' right now, and this stamp makes it really quick and easy to create that effect....love it!

A very worthwhile cause....

I feel very honoured to be involved in this amazing project with other talented Demonstrators from Australia and around the world. You get a whole month's worth of crafty inspiration, at the same time knowing that you have contributed to a very worthwhile cause. Little Lara needs a new mobility access vehicle, and we all want to help her family buy one for her.

A Happy Thing is Colouring In

Just a quick one from me today...I am off for some much-needed 3-year-old nephew time!
I made this card just for the fun of colouring in this little birdie. I wanted lots of contrast, and this is about as much contrast as you can get....blue and orange are complementary - opposite eachother on the colour wheel. To balance out all that contrast, I've used a Crumb Cake card base.
I've used Birthday Bash Designer Series Paper and A Happy Thing Sale-a-Bration stamp set on this card. I used Blendabilities to colour my birdie.

Irresistible Balloons

This is the other card we are making in this weeks classes. This time I've sponged the Irresistibly Yours Designer Series Paper, in lovely shades of aqua, working from lightest to darkest. I've used the Balloon Framelits for my accent, along with the Ornate Tag Topper Punch and the Celebrate Today stamp set.
This was such a fun card to make!

Irresistible Butterflies

It was so great to get back to classes last week. It was Happy New Year greetings all round, even though it's February. I always feel like my new year really starts in February....January is such a non-month for me (in a good way!).
This week I am running Technique Classes, and we are exploring ways to use the Irresistibly Yours Designer Series Paper. Here is one of the cards we'll be making:

This paper starts its life all white, with clear embossed designs on a white background. The magic happens when you sponge, spritz or brayer colour onto it, and the design comes to life.
I've spritzed mine, in Daffodil Delight and Crisp Cantaloupe ink.
Some beautiful butterflies were the perfect accent on this card....I love the Butterflies Thinlits!
I'll be back to show you the other card we are making next time.

Painted Petals Box set

I saw a card set by the very clever Jackie Bolhuis and filed it away for future reference. It makes a really cute box and set of cards, and only uses 1 A4 sheet of cardstock, 2 C6 envelopes and an 8" x 8" sheet of paper/cardstock for the box. It uses the Gift Box Punch Board, and instructions are on Jackie's blog.
Here's a look at the (very simple!) cards inside:

and this is how you cut an envelope in half to make 2 mini envelopes (with a piece of DSP for the flap):

The Painted Petals stamp set is so pretty. You get an amazing watercolour look, no paints or brushes required. Check out the video:

Butterfly Basics Stamp-a-Stack

This is the second set of cards we are making this week. We're using the lovely Butterfly Basics Bundle. Check it out in the video:

My colour scheme is Lost Lagoon, Baked Brown Sugar, Naturals White and Ivory, and Old Olive. I've also used Vellum for my butterflies.

Lotus Blossom Stamp-a-Stack

My classes resume this week, and I am so looking forward to stamping with my lovely ladies again! This is one of the sets of cards we will be making:

I just couldn't go past the Lotus Blossom as my first Sale-a-Bration pick. It's just so pretty and quite different from all the other flower stamps I own. It's a 3-step stamp, in photopolymer, and the stamps are helpfully marked 1, 2 and 3. Check out the video:

On my cards, I've also used the Something Borrowed DSP, Stacked with Love Washi Tape and Simply Wonderful Sale-a-Bration stamp set. The colours I've used are Sahara Sand, Blackberry Bliss, Black and Mossy Meadow.

A Little Teapot

I always like to make a little thank you gift for everyone who comes along to my Open House events. I saw a little teapot similar to this one on Pinterest a while ago and filed it away for future use.
It's made using the Oval Accent Die. Place a folded piece of cardstock in the die (the fold is at the bottom of the teapot. Cut the 'lid' off one side, and use it to form the spout. The handle is made using the Large Oval and Circle punches.
I made mine in shades of purple (Elegant Eggplant and Wisteria Wonder) to go with the Twinings Traditional Afternoon teabag and Cadbury choccie. I glued the sides together to form a pocket, but you could leave it open to make a card, or even make a small box to sandwich in the middle.
I decorated it using the new Spring Flowers Embossing Folder and Simply Wonderful Sale-a-Bration set (coloured with Wisteria Wonder Blendabilities)

Big Day Make-and-take

I used one of my favourite Sale-a-Bration sets for the other make-and-take at my Open House:

I went with some bright (well, bright for me!) colours - Island Indigo, Tangerine Tango and Night of Navy.
Another quick and easy card, by necessity. The Confetti Stars punch gives it a little bit of 'wow'.

Sheltering Tree Make-and-Take

I thought it was about time I blew the dust off the old blog, and got back to regular blogging! Even though I've been quiet on here, I've been working away feverishly at my stamp desk - all of my class designs are done for February and March, plus I had an Open House yesterday and I managed to get lots of samples made for that too. Mind you, having lots of new product to play with made 'working' at my Craft desk a breeze!

This was one of the make-and-takes from my Open House yesterday. I had 30 lovely ladies pop over for some afternoon tea, catalogue drooling, stamping and crafty inspiration.
Sheltering Tree is one of my favourite sets from the Occasions Catalogue. It's so much fun to create a scene with this tree (and photopolymer makes it really easy to place all the different elements).
I've used Wild Wasabi, Baked Brown Sugar, Crumb Cake and Pistachio Pudding for my colour combination.
I'll be back soon with the other make-and-take!
