Lantern Blues


A pretty quick and simple one today, using my well-loved Happy Congratulations set. I've given my lanterns many shades of aqua-blue by making a temporary inkpad out of baby wipes and ink refills. I've used Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana and Pool Party.
It's great to be able to make quick and easy tags using the Tag Topper. The nice thing about tags on cards is that they stand alone, and don't require a lot (or any!) matting behind them.
I think this would make a lovely Engagement or Wedding card....and it's a bit different from the typical lovey-dovey ones you see everywhere.

Faux Woodgrain


The "Faux Woodgrain" technique has been around for a while. To refresh your memory, you can create the look of wood by swiping inkpads across a piece of cardstock, working from lightest to darkest colour (here I started with Crushed Curry, then Crumb Cake, then Baked Brown Sugar, and finished with a dash of Soft Suede). For the final step, you usually hand-draw the joins and nails, but here I cheated and just stamped the Hardwood background stamp in Soft Suede ink. It looks quite authentic, I think.
Usually I would turn this into a masculine card, but instead I decided to go floral instead with this one.

Happy Easter!



I'm a little early in my Easter greetings, since we fly out of the country today. We'll be in New York City for Easter this year, which is very exciting!

Woven Lattice Window Card

This is the other "Trellis Card" that we made in my Technique Class last week:

For this card, we made our own woven lattice with 1/2cm strips of cardstock. The Window Frames framelits make a perfect framework.
Here's a TIP for centering your framelit perfectly: lightly draw a line from corner to corner on the back of your piece of cardstock. You will be able to use this "X" to centre the 4 corners of the framelit.
We used the Envelope Punch Board to make a matching envelope from Watercolour Wonder Designer Series Paper:

Trellis Card with the Chevron Punch

We are in full trip-preparation mode now that school holidays are here. I can't believe we are going to the US next Friday! There is sooo much to do before we go. I managed to squeeze in one last week of classes last week, and this is one of the cards we made:
 

The theme was "Trellis Cards", and I showed everyone how to make this trellis using the Chevron Border Punch. We made an envelope to match too:


Here's a close-up of the pretty flowers, coloured with So Saffron, Crisp Cantaloupe and Calypso Coral markers:


Did you notice the Crisp Cantaloupe mat behind the Chalk Talk framelit? It's made using the Tag Topper Punch - 8.2 x 4.9cm cardstock, punched at both ends.
I've made a lot of masculine cards using the Hardwood Background stamp, but I love how pretty it looks in Soft Sky, and not just 'woody' colours.
