Happy Easter!

Happy (belated) Easter everyone! We had a lovely long weekend, catching up with friends and family. Do you like my basket of treats? I made a batch of rocky road filled Easter half-eggs for all the kids in our street. Of course I had to put them in a cello bag and decorate them with a cute tag. I'm sure the kids were more interested in the chocolate but the adults oohed and aahed!

Easter Basket Card Set

I'm sometimes a bit hesistant to purchase "seasonal" stamp sets, in case I won't get enough use out of them. But I could see a lot of uses outside of Easter for the Easter Basket stamp set. So, that was this week's card challenge - Easter but not Easter!

I chose some bright and cheery colours for these cards -  Granny Apple Green, Strawberry Slush, Fresh Freesia and Daffodil Delight. To add some texture to the backgrounds, I used a selection of embossing folders (listed below), and the Everyday Arches dies frame the images perfectly. The sentiments are from the Cutest Crew stamp set.

Basket For You

I'm sometimes a bit hesistant to purchase "seasonal" stamp sets, in case I won't get enough use out of them. But I could see a lot of uses outside of Easter for the Easter Basket stamp set. So, that was this week's card challenge - Easter but not Easter!

For this one, I made a stamped basket of flowers. I coloured them in with Blends (Strawberry Slush and Fresh Freesia). For the background I chose Granny Apple Green and gave it some texture with the Paradise Garden Hybrid Embossing Folder. I used Blending Brushes to sponge the basket with Crumb Cake ink, and framed it using the Everyday Arches dies.

Birthday Basket

I'm sometimes a bit hesistant to purchase "seasonal" stamp sets, in case I won't get enough use out of them. But I could see a lot of uses outside of Easter for the Easter Basket stamp set. So, that was this week's card challenge - Easter but not Easter!

To make this card, I die-cut a basket, as well as a bunch of flowers, leaves and accessories in a mixture of pretty colours. I've used Fresh Freesia, Old Olive, Soft Sea Foam, Lemon Lolly and Daffodil Delight. Then, since I had some leftover pieces, I cut another basket and made a second card!

I added some Cloud Cover to my second one, and used the All in a Row Embossing Folder in the background.

Easter but not Easter

I'm sometimes a bit hesistant to purchase "seasonal" stamp sets, in case I won't get enough use out of them. But I could see a lot of uses outside of Easter for the Easter Basket stamp set. So, that was this week's card challenge - Easter but not Easter!

First up, a cute little garden of flowers. I cut these out in white and coloured them using ink and Blending Brushes. It gives a softer look than straight cardstock. For my colours I chose Granny Apple Green, Strawberry Slush, Fresh Freesia and Daffodil Delight - pretty and bright! The flowers are framed by the Everyday Arches dies, and in the background I've used the new Ladybug Picnic 3D embossing folder.

Sweet Succulent Garden Projects

We made some pretty projects in class last week using the Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper.
All three of these projects can be used for Easter, or any occasion really.
I think I like the card best:

There's hardly any stamping on this card - just the sentiment. The rest is Designer Series Paper (just a bit of fussy cutting!) and a couple of embellishments.
TIP: my Pool Party cardstock was a little bright for the DSP, so I toned it down using a Whisper White inkpad. It's a little trick that I like to use  often - just 'swipe' your inkpad across the cardstock and then use a tissue to wipe off the excess. Your cardstock will be pretty much ready to use straight away.
Here is a closer look at the box:

I've done the same 'swiping' trick on the inside of the lid. The lighter shade provides a bit more contrast. The sweet little tag shape is part of the Window Box set of dies.
The final project is the Egg Carton:

I've dyed mine using ink refills (a 50:50 mix of Wild Wasabi and Old Olive - 6 drops of each) and alcohol in a Spritzer.
The rest is just decoration, again using the Succulent Garden DSP and Sweet Sugarplum ribbon. I punched 4 holes in the egg carton using the handheld punch, to thread the ribbon through. I even punched out some 1" circles to go under the Easter eggs:
