The Big 200!

I told you a big number was coming up....well, it's 200! 200 subscribers to my blog, that is! I remember when I first started this blog, and I was talking to myself for quite some time. It's hard to believe that 200 people receive an email update when I post to my blog. I still sometimes feel like I am talking to myself, because not too many of you leave comments (thank you so much to those who do. I read every one of them, and I love hearing what you have to say. it always brightens my day).

I know one thing that gets the comments up....Blog Candy! I'm not going to make it too easy on you though! There's 2 parts to this one. Normally at the end of each post I write a full list of materials that I used to make the card. This time YOU have to write the list :o)
Leave a comment telling me everything I used to make this card:

Materials (all Stampin' Up!)
stamps: ??
ink: ??
card: ??
other: ??
You tell me!

This was the first card that I made with Upsy Daisy, and I dislike it so much that it has taken me this long to show it to you! That brings me to the second part of the Blog Candy. It's a Fixer-Upper....any ideas on how I can improve this card? Tell me your improvements and I'll take them on board and make the new improved version.
I will draw a winner from the correct entries, and they will receive the new, improved card, plus the "Fun Flowers" stamp (page 3 of the Spring Mini).
This is open to anyone in Australia, Demos included.
Good luck!

  1. Hi Marelle, I am your first comment!

Stamps - upsy daisy, fresh cuts
    Ink - baja breeze, versamark
Card - Sahara Sand, Kiwi Kiss, Baja Breeze, Whisper White
Other- brayer, white grosgrain ribbon dyed with sahara ink, white gel pen

Not sure how to improve, perhaps rip off the blue panel and do again without the brayering or shadowing! lol x

  2. It's too late at night and my brain hurts, so I'm not here to enter your blog candy giveaway, but can I please ask what on earth there is to dislike about this card...?!

Seriously woman, I know everybody is their own worst critic and all, but this is perfectly lovely!

  6. Heya Marelle....lovin the opp to twist the brain cells!!
stamps - Upsy Daisy, Fresh Cuts
ink:Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze, Versamark
card:Sahara sand, Kiwi kiss, glossy white (for brayered bit), Not Quite Navy
other: Brayer, white gel pens (for dots and outlines on daisies), ribbon (struggling to defing colour, but guessing satin), SAMJ for lining up Thank you, Snail glue/sticky strip....As for the step up (insert uncomfortable squirm)perhaps the brayering of a full or crescent moon above the daisies OR extending the KK CS to incorporate an eyelet border punch row that cld compliment the upward motion of the daisies and then the ribbon cld run JUST below the decorative edge.

    Hi Marelle,
I think it's a lovely card and the only thing I can think of sub the ribbon for a eyelet border.
    Stamps Upsy Daisy, fresh cuts
Ink - Not quite navy, whisper white, baja breeze (not sure sahara sand)
    cardstock-sahara sand,not quite navy,kiwi kiss, glossy white
white gelpen, dyed ribbon ssand, brayer, daubers

  8. Hi Marelle, Well I think I will be way wrong but I will just go on just how the colours look to me on my screen!
Stamps: Upsy Daisy and Fresh Cuts
Ink: Not Quite Navy and Versamark
Card: Sahara Sand, Green Galore, Glossy White, Not Quite Navy
Other: Brayer, White Gel pen, grosgrain ribbon dyed with Sahara Sand.
I think it is a lovely card as is but I guess it would make a different looking card if you had more of the green card, a wider ribbon and maybe a circle with the wording added with dimensionals!

  9. Hi Marelle, First and foremost I love your card!!!
Stamps: Upsy Daisy and Fresh Cuts
Card: Sahara Sand, Kiwi Kiss, Pacific Point and Gloss White
Ink: Versamark, Pacific Point, Baja Breeze
Other: Kraft taffeta ribbon, Brayer,White Gel Pen, Stamp-a-ma-jig,Snail,Dimensionals
As for changes, I think you could get a different effect if you use a Baja Breeze base card, White Taffeta ribbon and a couple of pearls, but I love it the way it is so its very hard to suggest changes!! LOL

  11. Hi Marelle, I'll have a go at guessing but I don't need to be entered into your Blog Candy Giveaway.

    Stamps: Upsy Daisy, Fresh Cuts

    stamps: Upsy Daisy, Fresh Cuts
    ink: Pacific Point, Kiwi Kiss
card: Sahara Sand, Kiwi Kiss, Pacific Point, Whisper White
other: brayer, White taffeta ribbon dyed Sahara Sand, white gel pen.

I can't quite tell if the "thank you" is stamped in a different colour ink. I'd guess Pacific Point too, but perhaps Not Quite Navy or Always Artichoke.

Card: not quite navy, whisper white, old olive, sahara sand

  14. Hi Marelle,
I'm a bit of a lurker too!! Sorry 'bout that. :)
I love your designs though, they often inspire me to go home and make something similar.

    stamps: Upsy Daisy, Fresh Cuts
ink: Not Quite Navy, Old Olive
card: Sahara Sand, Not Quite Navy, Old Olive, Whisper White
Other: White Gel Pen, Very Vanilla Grosgrain Ribbon, Sponge Dauber & Brayer

  15. I can't enter being over the ditch and all - and I would never normally dare to suggest how to "Step it up" one of YOUR cards.... but here's my 2c... maybe some 1/8" punched circles (say 3?) over to the right above your green card and covered with some crystal effects.

  16. What a hard challenge!
    Stamps: Upsy Daisy, Fresh Cuts
    Ink: Not Quite Navy
Card: Whisper White, Not Quite Navy, Sahara Sand
Other: White Gel Pen, Brayer, Dimensionals, Kraft Taffeta Ribbon
Improvement: Difficult, maybe Baja Breeze instead of the green.

Instead of 2 different comments, my 2nd guess is same as above, except Green Galore CS instead of KK.
    Thanks Marelle,

    Card : Old Olive,Pacific Point,Sahara Sand,Glossy White

  18. Hi Marelle!
I love your blog and I am one of your 200 readers! But I don't leave comments often enough even though I love your creations and frequently use your ideas & inspiration!

    My guess is:
Stamps: Upsy Daisy and Fresh Cuts
Card: Sahara Sand, Kiwi Kiss, Not Quite Navy, Whisper White
Ink: Versamark, Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy, Whisper White, Basic Black
Other: Kraft taffeta ribbon, White Gel Pen, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Brayer, Snail Adhesive, Stampin Dimensionals

I love the card! The only thing I can think of to possibly change would be to use Baja Breeze instead of Kiwi Kiss for the bottom strip and/ or possibly use a border punch (love my border punches!). Maybe a couple of buttons or brads in the top right hand corner?

  24. HI Marelle,

    wow congratulations on the 200!

Ok here goes my try at the recipe:
    Stamps: Upsy Daisy, Fresh Cuts
Inks: Pacific Point, Kiwi Kiss, Ballet Blue
cardstock: Sahara Sand, Pacific, Point, Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White
Other: White Gel Pen, Kraft Taffeta ribbon, Brayer

Variation2 the same but instead of the brayer you used a sponge

    How to improve?
Firstly let me say it looks lovely as is But maybe some kind of kiwi embellishment in the top RH corner of the Upsy panel. Stamp the whole "kiwi" panel with fresh cuts flower border. Then lift up the sentiment off the "kiwi" panel, maybe some glitter on the upsy flowers? I'd normally trial them out one by one and discard or add as necessary.

  27. Hi again, I said brayer in my previous post, but I think maybe it could be sponge daubers instead and I'm going to leave all the other things the same. It will be so interesting to get the correct answers. Jane M x

4 CS - Kiwi Kiss, Pacific point, White glossy and the fickle main....perhps Kraft??
3 other - White gel pen, brayer, satin ribbon perhaps Kraft?.
My suggestions for the 'step up remain the same as my first guess!!

  30. Hi Marelle.

I'll have a go although I would have thought 4 inks not 3 but we'll see.

Stamp sets: Upsy Daisy, Fresh Cuts
Inks: Not Quite Navy, Old Olive & Basic Black
Card: Not Quite Navy, Old Olive, Sahara Sand, Whisper White
Accessories: Kraft Taffeta Ribbon, White Gel Pen, Brayer.

As for how to improve it, maybe a photo corner punch in the top right of main image or some Old Olive brads down the right hand side of the card. Really not sure how this would look but it's the only things I could think of.

  37. Hi Marelle
Long time no comment - sorry!
I decided to have a guess in the hope that I can win a 'Marelle Original' to replace your beautiful convention swap that my naughty puppies chewed( sigh)- not to worry about the stamp though.

    Anyway, here's my guess:
    Stamps:Upsy daisy,Fresh Cuts
Ink: Not quite navy, baja breeze, sahara sand
    Card:Not quite navy,Sahara sand
    certainly celery,White glossy
Other: White gel pen, white tafetta ribbon (coloured with sahara ink?), sponge dauber(or brayer - can't decide!)

Love your card as is. If you twisted my arm, I'd only maybe change the base, as I'm not a big sahara fan..maybe to kraft or baja.

    Inky wishes, Di
PS: hope you have a fab incentive trip

  38. Ok. I'm going to have a guess. I am another guilty one who loves to visit and doesn't comment. Love all that you do :)

Stamp sets: Upsy daisy, Fresh Cuts
Inks: Not Quite Navy, Sahara Sand, Baja Breeze.
Cardstock: Whisper White, Old Olive, Not Quite Navy and Sahara Sand
Other: Kraft taffeta ribbon, Sponges, White gel pen.

Have fun at the incentive trip :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Oops/ For the inks I meant Old Olive, Not Quite Navy and Baja Breeze.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Okay.....can I have a nuther go..... :)

I'm not changing my mind much from my earlier guess though.

Well.....this is harder than I thought - I keep going back and forwards in the catty and am getting more confused with each minute that goes by. ;\

    Here goes:
    Stamps: Upsy Daisy, Fresh Cuts
Ink: Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze, Versamark
Card: Sahara Sand, Not Quite Navy, Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White
Other: White Gel Pen, Kraft Taffeta Ribbon & Brayer

As for improvements....I'm not sure there is anything you could add....sometimes the simple layouts work well. I too wonder though, what a Baja Breeze card base would look like? And, I'm a fanatic at adding dazzling diamonds & brads to most of my cards. Instant Bling!!

Thanks for the challenge. Need to go rest my eyes/head now. :)

  41. Hi Marelle, here is my guess

    Stamps: Upsy Daisy, Fresh Cuts
Ink: not quite navy, old olive, whisper white
Card: naturals ivory, not quite navy, old olive, Whisper White
Other: crystal effects, very vanilla taffeta ribbon & Brayer.

to improve - add a few brads, raise the sentiment with dimentionals, sponging of the background card with a darker colour.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Stamps: Upsy Daisy, Fresh Cuts
Ink: not quite navy, kiwi kiss, whisper white
Card: naturals ivory, not quite navy, kiwi kiss, Whisper White
Other: crystal effects, kraft taffeta ribbon & Brayer.

to improve - use a background stamp like "sanded" on the background card in a darker ink, and sponging maybe?

    ReplyDelete
  43. HI Marelle,
I have been out of the cyber-loop for about 2 1/2 months. Your card looks lovely and yes we are our own critics. I wouldn't even begin to tell you how to change it as your 'worst' card is better than my best card!

In regards to the list....I would guess as:

    Stamps: Upsy Daisy, Fresh Cuts
Ink: Pacific Point, Kiwi Kiss, tempting turquoise??
Card: Going Gray, Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White, Pacific Point
Other: White Gel Pen, twill tape, sponges.

Thanks for your updates :) I really enjoy looking at them when I get the opportunity. As much as it does seem like it, you do not talk to thin air..........LOL

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hi Marelle your card looks great as it is the only thing that I would say maybe use sanded or weathered background on light cs
Stamps Upsy Daisy & Fresh cuts
    Inks Pacific Point,Baja Breeze,Verseamark
Card Sahara sand ,Pacific Point ,Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White
Others Brayer ,White gel pen Taffeta dyed Sahara Sand

    ReplyDelete
  45. Stamps: Upsy Daisy, Fresh Cuts
Ink: Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze, White
Card: Glossy White, Not Quite Navy, Sahara Sand, Old Olive
Other: White Gel Pen, Brayer, Kraft Taffeta Ribbon
Improvement: Difficult, maybe Baja Breeze instead of the green.

Also guessing same as above except with Kiwi Kiss CS

    ReplyDelete
  46. Congrats Marelle!

    My guess:
    Stamps: Upsy Daisy, Fresh Cuts
Cardstock: Gloss white, Old Olive, Not quite Navy, Sahara Sand
Ink: Not quite Navy, White Craft ink, Old Olive
Other: Brayer, Kraft taffeta ribbon, white gel pen.

I think it's beautiful as it is, but as for an improvement - maybe simply some small brads in the top right corner?

    Thanks :)
