Challenge #3 - Christmas in July

July's challenge is called "Christmas in July", but you need to make a Christmas Card with a Twist. That means you can use either non-traditional colours or a non-Christmas set (or both, if you are feeling really adventurous!)

I love the challenge of using a non-Christmas set to make Christmas cards. You can see some of my past efforts HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE .... I told you I love the challenge! There are even more, but that will give you the idea!

This is a card I designed for next month's Christmas Stamp-a-Stacks:

I've stamped the branch from the "Kindred Spirits" set in Old Olive ink on Sahara Sand cardstock. Then I coloured in the berries with a Ruby Red marker. A dot of Crystal Effects makes then nice and shiny.... Easy Peasy!
This month's Christmas Stamp-a-Stacks start tonight. I'm running 3 classes over the next 2 days and they filled up really quickly. I think everyone loves the idea of having all their cards made before the Silly Season hits! I'm running the classes (with 2 new designs every month) at the beginning of each month until December. I can also run the class for a group of your friends in your home, at a time of your choosing. Email me to book in!

I'm going to use Mr Linky again this month, but please also leave a link to your cards in the comments section of this post.
I'm looking forward to seeing what you all come up with! I'll pick my favourite at the end of the month, and the winner will receive a sample pack of Stampin' Up! embellishments from the New Spring Mini!

Materials (all Stampin' Up!)
stamps: Kindred Spirits, Best Yet (Hostess set)
ink: Old Olive, Chocolate Chip
card: Riding Hood Red, Old Olive, Sahara Sand, Chocolate Chip
other: Crystal effects, Ruby Red marker, sponge dauber, Large Oval punch, Designer Label punch, Wide Oval punch, Eyelet Border Punch

  1. Marelle - can you keep a place for me - I sooo love that card!! I could be there in time if I get on a flight today! lol

In all seriousness Marelle - I really do love this card - you always think outside the box!

    Luv Karen

  2. Hi Marelle,

Love your card. It looks very Christmassy even without the use of a Christmas stamp set. Very nice.

I made a card recently for a Christmas in July with my 7 sisters. I used the always stamp set with Mellow Moss and Riding Hood Red.

Here's the link if you want a look.

Thanks for the challenge. I'll be making some more this weekend with my sisters. Yay!

  3. I've posted my entry on Mr Linky; thanks for a great challenge!

  4. Hi Marelle, I love all yoyr cards. I was having trouble thinking of a non christmas set, so I used non christmas colours. I hope this works as I haven't tried before.

  5. Marelle,

I decided to join in the fun with your challenge I think you will be pleasently surprised with my entry you might find it a tad familiar.

  6. Hi Marelle,
I used your sketch from your SAS FAQ post which was very informative - thanks.

I also used the same stamp set but non-tradtional colours for my christmas cards last year - just to look at.

  7. I decided to enter another entry because I thought I cheated a little using your cards so I decided to do a card with fresh cuts instead.

  8. My card is one I did last year but still current stuff so I've reposted it and it will be up tomorrow - I'll try to remember to add the link tomorrow but incase I forget just wanted to let you know I've entered :)
