Birthday Best

This month in my Tuesday night classes we're colouring on the back of vellum using Watercolour Wonder Crayons. It's a really simple but effective technique, and yet another way to use the crayons. I've pulled out my Birthday Best set, which I used to death when I first got, and has been seriously neglected ever since! It's a bargain set ($25.95) and can be used for absolutely anybody. There are only a couple of Tuesdays left, so email me if you'd like to come along. We're also make a card using Jumbo Wheels that can be used for Mother's Day (yes, it's just around the corner!!)

Colour Theory Happy Birthday

If you need to whip up a batch of birthday cards in a flash, this design would work really well. I've used the Color Theory Paper Stack for my background papers, but you could substitute any Designer Series Paper that you have on hand (and let's face it, we all have plenty of it!). Just choose a co-ordinating colour for your circle and attach your Happy Birthday thinlit design to that.
I've embellished mine with some flowers from the co-ordinating Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set, and some Glitter Enamel Dots.

TIP: the 5-petal flower from the Blossom Builder Punch makes great leaves!

Pink or Purple?

I made a few of these cards for some special birthdays I have coming up. I used the Sale-a-Bration set Happy Birthday to You. This one has been super popular so far! I couldn't decide which colour I liked best, so I made some of each. Here's Lovely Lipstick:

Bad Blogger!

I know, it's been almost a week since I last posted. School holidays have a way of sucking up all your spare time, don't they?
I had a great time away camping, but I haven't stopped since we got back. I've been wanting to pop on here and tell you about this month's specials.

We made 2 designs as per the kit instructions, and for the other 2 cards, I came up with my own design using the kit contents. I substituted Vanilla Grosgrain ribbon for the twill tape, as i didn't have enough twill to last through a month of classes!

CCMC593 Best Dressed Birthday

It's Thursday, and that means it's Challenge time again over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com. This week is a colour challenge, and these are the colours we had to work with:

Aren't these pastel shades so pretty! Since Sale-a-Bration starts tomorrow (!!!!) I decided to use the Happy Birthday to You stamp set. This could be yours for free when you place a $90 order during Sale-a-Bration. 

There's lots of white embossing powder on this card - the cake, the cake stand and the sentiment. I used Blends to colour the cake and flowers. The Petal Pink Organdy Striped Ribbon works beautifully on this card. It's so delicate and pretty. The patterned paper is a Sneak Peek from the new Mini Catalogue (Live Tomorrow!!). It's called Best Dressed, and if you like floral, pretty patterns, you're going to adore it (I do!).

Happy Birthday Yvette

It was my lovely sister's birthday on the weekend and the whole family gathered at her place to celebrate. I was feeling a wee bit under the weather (kidney infection, resistant to first dose of antibiotics, so I was drugged out on pain meds and much stronger second antibiotic) but since I wasn't contagious I went along rather than sit in misery by myself at home. And I couldn't go along without a handmade card, made especially for her. In my brain-addled state, I decided the best option was to CASE myself (why does that always sound a bit rude??). So I took THIS card and made it this:

I just used the reverse side of the paper and it became a completely different card! I also added some Sahara Sand shadows to the stamped Poppy Parade flowers to make them 'pop' a little bit more, and the greeting is from another Sale-a-Bration set, Elementary Elegance. My sister has always been a fan of the colour red, so this version was much more 'her' than my original. We had a lovely birthday lunch!
...and the kidney infection is now on the mend, so it's all good :o)

Best Day

I CaSEd this card from one on page 67 of the Mini Catalogue. Mine is not exactly the same, as I've used the Enjoy the Adventure Memories & More cards and envelopes pack for mine. 

I love applying colour with the Blending Brushes. It's fun to build up layers of colour. Here I used the same colours as the card base - Mango Melody and Petal Pink. I stamped and cut out the birthday banner on a separate piece of White cardstock, and popped it over the top, using Mini Dimensionals.

I added some sparkle with the Iridescent Rhinestones.
