So Very Much in Mint Macaron

The So Very Much stamp set is a great one to have in your collection for when you need to make a quick batch of thank you cards. After events like a wedding, baby shower or birthday it's a lovely idea to send thank you cards and this stamp set will make short work of them. It's a nice large stamp that will do most of the work for you.
My colour scheme is Mint Macaron, Early Espresso and Crumb Cake.

...and speaking of Mint Macaron, don't forget that the 5 In Colors  - Mint Macaron, Tip Top Taupe, Cucumber Crush, Watermelon Wonder and Delightful Dijon - will all be retiring soon. Sale-a-Bration is a great time to stock up on your favourites (don't forget your ink refills!). See them all HERE

Inside the Lines - Fast and Fabulous

A blank sheet of colouring-in paper can be quite daunting...but don't feel that you have to colour the entire sheet. Just choose a few areas to highlight, and they will really pop against the uncoloured areas.
I've used the Sale-a-Bration Inside the Lines Designer Series Paper for these cards, and coloured them using the Watercolour Pencils and an Aquapainter.

For this card above, I've just coloured a panel, and for this card below, I've 'spotlighted' a circle and only coloured that:

These were really fast cards to make and I think the results are quite fabulous! (if I do say so myself!)

CCMC449 Make a Medallion

It's Thursday, and that means a new Weekly Challenge over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com
Here's my take on this week's sketch:

I'm trying to get as much use as I can from the Make a Medallion Sale-a-Bration set before it disappears on March 31. This card feels a little Moroccan or Indian to me...maybe it's the colours, or just all those beautiful mandala-like medallions. I've used Calypso Coral, Peekaboo Peach and So Saffron (with Very Vanilla and a splash of Gold).
Here are a few tips:
  • To make the decorative element in the corner I used the Flourish thinlits, the Classic Label punch, a gold mini paper clip, and some of the gold Sale-a-Bration ribbon. It sounds like a lot, but I think they work together well
  • The gold strip at the bottom, and the gold flourish thinlit actually started out as So Saffron cardstock. I've coloured them in with Gold Wink of Stella.
  • I've also dotted Gold Wink of Stella on various parts of the medallions, and spattered it on the background piece. It's all very sparkly in real life!
I hope you like my card. Check out what the other talented stampers have come up with HERE. Don't forget you can play along over on the facebook page!

Sweet Sugarplum Lace

I have a simple Sweet Sugarplum card to show you today. I think this would make a lovely wedding or engagement card.
I've stamped rows of Delicate Details lace in Versamark ink. Tip: you can actually mount several stamps on one block and stamp them all at once! I've then sprinkled white embossing powder over the images and heat set. The result is beautiful delicate lace that really pops on the Sweet Sugarplum card. I've also added a bit of sparkle...a thin strip of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and I've blinged up the wooden heart. I sponged it with Whisper White Craft ink, then applied Multipurpose Glue and then Dazzling Diamonds Glitter. I love the result!

Carried Away with Any Occasion

I can't believe we have less than 3 weeks left of Sale-a-Bration! Where did that time go? It's always at about this time that I realise I am no where near done with playing with all of the Sale-a-Bration products. I must confess that I have neglected this cute little set. It's called Any Occasion, and has lots of fun banners, one for every occasion.
I've paired the set with the Sale-a-Bration Carried Away Designer Series paper, and taken my colour combo from there - Mint Macaron, Night of Navy and Smoky Slate.
This was a fun card to make!

CCMC448 A New Adventure!

I have some fabulous news to share with you all! I'm very excited to announce that I have been invited to become a member of the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge Design Team!!

What does that mean? Every Thursday I will be sharing a project for the week's challenge posted on the Create with Connie and Mary site. Hopefully it might inspire you in your own stamping, and you can even play along on the Facebook page. I am so looking forward to this new adventure with this talented group of stampers!

This week's challenge is a Colour Challenge with these 3 delightful colours:
I love these 3 colours but I don't think I have ever used all 3 together. I tend to go with grey or brown, but not both together, so I put my thinking cap on, and this is what I came up with:

I've used the stunning Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and framelits on this card. Here are a few tips:
  • The Dragonfly has been stamped in Chocolate Chip ink on vellum and then embossed with clear embossing powder (the ink takes longer to dry on vellum, so there's plenty of time to emboss it).
  • I've also done some clear embossing on the background panel, and then wet the watercolour paper with an aquapainter before stamping in Pool Party and Smoky Slate.
  • I've swirled some silver thread under the dragonfly to add movement.
  • The banner of DSP is from Tasty Treats Specialty Paper.
  • If you look closely, you'll notice the shadow effect on the sentiment. This is really easy to achieve with photopolymer stamp sets. I simply stamped in Chocolate Chip ink and then stamped again in Smoky Slate, slightly off-set.
I hope you like my card! Thanks for stopping by. Make sure you check out the rest of the talented design team's cards for this colour challenge at www.createwithconnieandmary.com

Clean and Simple Avant Garden

I've been getting lots of use out of the very pretty, and very versatile Avant Garden stamp set. It's one of the free Sale-a-Bration sets...only available until the end of this month!
I made this card for a special friend's birthday. She likes clean and simple, so I deliberately didn't go overboard with this one. Sometimes it's tempting to keep adding more, but I do really like the clean look when it's well executed. Hopefully I've pulled it off here.
If you struggle to paint water washes, or want to use Whisper White cardstock, rather than watercolour paper, sometimes a stamp can be an easy 'cheat'. I pull out this stamp from Perpetual Calendar a lot. The other background stamps in the set are very handy too! Here I've stamped in Mint Macaron, Sahara Sand and Pool Party.
I've roughed up the edges with my nail, added a bit of linen thread and popped the layer up on dimensionals, just to add some texture and visual interest. Clean and Simple!

Delicate Details Stamp-a-Stack

This is the second design we are making in my Stamp-a-Stack class next week. How pretty is the Sale-a-Bration Delicate Details set? Those lacy images are just stunning.
My colour combo is Soft Sky, Pumpkin Pie, Tip Top Taupe and Dapper Denim. I couldn't decide if I preferred Whisper White or Very Vanilla, so I used a bit of both! Thankfully these gorgeous lace doilies are white on one side and vanilla on the other, so I could mix it up a little!
