It's Blog Hop Time Again!

Welcome once again to the Stampers Anonymous Team Blog Hop! Our theme this month is Retiring Items.

My first thought when I heard about the theme was 'Lovely as a Tree'. It's been around nearly as long as I have (I've been a Demonstrator since May 2006 and it first made an appearance in our 2007-8 Annual Catalogue). But, it's time to say goodbye to this Old Timer (the stamp set, not me!!).

I was inspired by the sunset from my Stamp Room window for this card. I made my sunset using Sponge Brayers on Glossy cardstock (this is also retiring). I used So Saffron, Night of Navy and Poppy Parade. I stamped the trees in Black Stazon ink, and then masked off the top, so I could sponge the ground in black.

I stamped my sentiment (from another retiring tree set, Sheltering Tree) in Versamark ink on Basic Black cardstock, sprinkled with Copper Embossing Powder, and heat set. I added a Copper Leaves Trinket, and a Linen Thread bow for embellishment (happily, these are both hanging around).

My background paper is from the Classic Garage Paper Pack (also retiring). It was a little too grey, so I darkened the tone by swiping my Black inkpad across it.

Make sure you check out what everyone else has made with Retiring Items. You can make the complete circuit and see all the lovely creations by following the links at the end of each post.

  2. Such a beautiful card, Marelle! Isn't it sad this stamp set is retiring?! I only recently bought it too. The sunset is gorgeous too.

  3. A stunning card Marelle! I bet you can see the sunsets out your window a lot better how that the massive tree has gone ;)
