Rustic Sunflower

Here's another card I made recently using my favourite product at the moment - embossing paste. I love the texture and touchy-feely aspect it adds to a card. I used the brick wall mask on this card, and tinted my embossing paste using Soft Suede ink refill. I didn't want the whole background to be patterned, so I just used the palette knife to apply the paste to just a portion of the mask. I really like the crumbling wall effect.

I've pulled out Painted Harvest stamp set (again!). The rustic feel of the sunflower image works well with the brick pattern. I stamped the sunflower in Crushed Curry and Tangerine Tango, with Early Espresso for the centre and Garden Green and Old Olive for the leaves. I fussy-cut the flower but the leaves were punched using the new Leaf Punch (available as a 10% off bundle with the stamp set).

The sentiment is from the Feather Together stamp set (some great words in this one!)

A Very Sparkly Birthday

I wish you could see how sparkly this card is in real life! The background has been made with Embossing Paste and glitter and the result is super shimmery. The ribbon is also shimmery, plus there is Wink of Stella Glitter applied to the cake.

My colour scheme is Powder Pink and Calypso Coral....nice and girly!

CCMC481 Vintage Leaves

It's Thursday, and that means it's Challenge time again over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com.
This week is a colour challenge, and these are the colours we had to work with:
My first thought when I saw these colours was Ouch! Cajun Craze! It's not a colour I pull out very often, but it does work really well for masculine cards and autumn themes....so guess what type of card I've made!
  • These gorgeous autumn leaves are from the Vintage Leaves stamp set (in the Annual Catalogue)
  • I've used Very Vanilla as my base colour, rather than Whisper White, as it's not as stark and suits the green and yellow tones.
  • I've used the baby wipe technique to make the leaves multi-coloured. To do this, just make your own temporary inkpad from a folded baby wipe. Apply drops of colour with a reinker, and then it is ready to use as an inkpad
  • The sentiment is from the Merry Little Labels stamp set (not just for Christmas!). It can be purchased as a bundle with the Everyday Label Punch, but for this card, I've stamped it on a Stitched Shapes Circle
  • The Woodland embossing folder makes the perfect background.
  • The Crushed Curry Mini Chevron ribbon adds a lovely finishing touch
I hope you like my card. Check out what the other talented stampers have come up with HERE. Don't forget you can play along over on the facebook page!

Dapper Background Bits

In my last post I showed you my favourite Hostess stamp set. Well, this is my second favourite stamp set from the Stampin' Rewards section of the Annual Catalogue (pages 220-223).
It's called Background Bits and it has some really pretty images in it. This is a very simple card, with just 2 colours - Dapper Denim and Whisper White. I've stamped off the flowers to get a lighter shade of blue. The Layered Leaves embossing folder is another favourite of mine. The texture is just stunning!
When I was finished making this card, I felt like it still needed a little something, but couldn't decide on what...any ideas??

Tranquil Tulips Bunch

There are some beautiful sets in the Stampin' Rewards section of the Catalogue (page 220-223), but I think my favourite would have to be the Tranquil Tulips stamp set. I made a bunch of these customer thank you cards in a few different colours, but these 2 were my favourites - Berry Burst and Sweet Sugarplum. It's a 2-step stamp set, which gives the flowers lots of dimension.

I've angled my layers and used the new Quilt Top embossing folder on the Tranquil Tide cardstock. Fresh Fig narrow ribbon is the perfect embellishment (I've attached it with a glue dot).

CCMC480 Merry Patterns

It's Thursday, and that means it's Challenge time again over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com.
This week is a sketch challenge, and this is the sketch we had to work with:
This was a fun sketch, but I've strayed a little from the design, and haven't taken it too literally
  • I switched out the circle background element for some diamond shapes, courtesy of the Eclectic Layers Thinlits dies. These dies are so versatile and I think they work really well on a Christmas card.
  • Peeking behind the diamond cut-outs is the Year of Cheer Designer Series Paper, sponged with Crumb Cake ink
  • All of the stamps on my card are from the Merry Patterns stamp set (available FREE until the end of this month with a $450 order).
  • I've used a markers - Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Cherry Cobbler - to colour in my Reindeer's jumper and antlers
  • the pretty blingy silver stars are from the Metallic Enamel Shapes pack
I hope you like my card. Check out what the other talented stampers have come up with HERE. Don't forget you can play along over on the facebook page!

Every Good Wish Stamp-a-Stack

This is the second set of cards we are making in this week's Christmas card class. The Merry Music Designer Series Paper is so pretty. Here I've paired it with some deep, rich colours - Old Olive and Cherry Cobbler. It's always a shame to have to stick down one side of the paper, so here I've folded it over and tucked a decorative border under the folded edge.

The Every Good Wish stamp set also adds a bold splash of colour, and a sentiment all in one. I've stamped it on some Stitched Squares. The stitched detail means that you can get away with matting it on another colour.

Hopefully everyone will enjoy making these in class this week!
