There's a gorgeous set in the US catty called "Snow Swirled", which we don't have yet, and Liam (then-customer and now-downline, and champion of thinking out of the box!) gave me the idea to make my own version using Priceless. And it just so happened that I had a masking class planned, and so this card was born! This is a technique called reverse masking. I made a triangle shape out of post-it notes (so I measured 3 points for my triangle, and stuck a post-it note joining each point, leaving a triangle-shaped hole in the middle). Then I stamped the small swirl from 'Priceless' inside my triangle and also sponged inside too. Then I stamped the tiny flower from Priceless in Gold Encore ink, and I dotted the centres using a mixture of Purely Pomegranate re-inker and Crystal effects, applied with a toothpick. Then just whip off your reverse masks and Voila! I've also sponged the edge of the River Rock cardstock with River Rock ink. The words 'Season's Greetings' are from an awesome set called "Many Merry Messages". The Pomegranate ribbon is in the current Spring Mini, which expires at the end of this month, so don't wait until December to buy it!
These colours are River Rock, Always Artichoke and Purely Pomegranate. Here's a blue version:
Ballet Blue and Bashful Blue with Silver embossed accents.
Which one is your favourite?
I love the card Marelle with the bashful blue. That is my favourite. You do such lovely work. thank you so much for bringing the idea to life. regards

Definately love the blue one. So much classier.
ReplyDeleteMarelle, I'm always inspired by your work. It is always stunning. I think the first card is beautiful, but when I scrolled down and saw the second … the blue has to be the winner. It's divine!

I love them both! Your work is always so lovely, how can we possibly choose one over the other :o)
ReplyDeletePatrice
Blue & Silver win hands down everytime, two of my favourite mixes.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this idea.
Heather
Both gorgeous Marelle but the blue card wins by a hair. I have done the same thinking with the US crazy for cupcakes set. Using the cake stand from one set and the little cupcake from short and sweet.
ReplyDeleteWhat a very clever idea! It looks great! You could apply that idea to other stamps...hmm card nigt coming up.
ReplyDeleteOooooh, tough choice! I'm very partial to that gorgeous satin ribbon, but I think I prefer the softer look of the bashful blue & white. Great job, Marelle!
ReplyDeleteWhat a spectacular idea! I love them both, but I think the blue one would be my favorite! ~chris
ReplyDeleteMarelle, these are both gorgeous. I probably like the blue slightly better. Great technique too. Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteI love them both. What gorgeous cards! Thanks, Sue
ReplyDeleteOoooh I love the blue - very pretty and clever.
ReplyDeleteHas to be the blue one! It's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteFantastic Marelle! Love it love it. I can't decide which one and I simply can't scroll up and down anymore between them! Love that pomegranate satin ribbon but also love the blue and silver. Too hard to choose!

ReplyDeleteBoth beautiful cards but I must go with the blue one. It's STUNNING!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards Marelle - love the blue one (my favourite colour and I love the idea too.
ReplyDeleteHi Marelle,
ReplyDeleteIt has to be the blue. The pomegranate is lovely too but the blue has a more wintery feel to it. Hard choice though.

Marelle,
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous and very creative. I love them both, but I have to agree with everyone else, the blue one is beautiful.
I love your work.
Jenny.
It looks like I`m the lone Ranger in this one, but I prefer the Pomegranate, Great & unconventional! The Silver and Blue is beautiful; however, I am partial to the Pom! :)
