Grateful Bunch Bargains

It's always at this time of year that we get the Retiring List, and it always contains some items that I am truly sad to see go, and some that I haven't used nearly enough.
In this case, it's a bit of both! The Grateful Bunch stamp set and co-ordinating Blossom Bunch Punch are great products that I don't feel ready to part with yet, so I pulled them out and had a play.

CCMC453 Lift Me Up Sketch Challenge

It's Thursday, and that means Challenge time over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com.
This week is a sketch challenge, and this is the design we had to work with:

I love sketch challenges. Once I decide on a stamp set and some Designer Series Paper, the rest usually comes pretty easily.

 Here are a few tips about this card:

• I've used the Lift Me Up bundle on this card for the hot air balloons, clouds and the sentiment
• I've used the Classic Label Punch for the sentiment
• The sunburst background image is part of the Cupcakes and Carousels Designer Series Paper
• I've added a bit of bling, courtesy of the Frosted Sequins. You can find these in the Occasions Catalogue. I've adhered them with Fine-tip Glue
• The cute little row of hearts is from the Birthday Blooms stamp set .
• My colour combination is Calypso Coral, Watermelon Wonder, Peekaboo Peach, Very Vanilla and Early Espresso

Retiring List 2017

A Brand New Annual Catalogue is just around the corner, and that means we have to make way for lots of lovely brand new products. So, it's time to say goodbye to some old favourites from the Annual Catalogue and Occasions Catalogue. Many items are heavily discounted (by up to 50%!) and all are only available while stocks last.

Urban Underground Twist & Pop Card

I've seen lots of these "Twist & Pop" or "4-Panel Pop-Up" cards around the traps lately. I even received a couple of beautiful ones for my birthday. So after numerous requests, I held a class to make one. This is the card we made, using Urban Underground Designer Series Paper and the Nailed It bundle . There are plenty of videos showing how to make these, so I won't go into detail here.
When the inside of a card has serious wow factor, I always like to keep the front clean and simple:

I think I'll be using this layout again. The hexagon dies are part of the Build It Framelits, and they're a great size to use on a card. This design would work for any card, just substitute your favourite Designer Series Paper!

Urban Underground Shaker Card

I'm always happy when I find extra uses for my dies. Using the Balloon Pop-up Thinlits for Shaker cards is a great way to make the most of them. I've shown a similar card and instructions HERE
I made this version more masculine, using the Urban Underground Designer Series Paper. We made this card at class recently, and everyone was surprised at how easy it was to make.
If you've never made Shaker Cards before, this is a great way to get started!

CCMC452 So in Love Colour Challenge

It's Thursday, and that means Challenge time over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com.
This week is a colour challenge, and these are the colours we had to work with:

At first I thought I was going to struggle with all the yellow and orange tones, but I found that it all came together quite easily. Once I settled on the So In Love stamp set, the rest was easy.

 Here are a few tips about this card:

• The Hardwood background has been stamped in Sahara Sand ink. I've also sponged the edges to add some depth.
• The Triple Banner punch makes fast work of a 2" strip of cardstock....instant banner!
• One of my favourite things about the Stitched Shapes framelits is that the stitched detail reduces the need for extra layers
• I've stamped my flower on Watercolour paper, and coloured with an Aquapainter and ink.
• The So Saffron DSP is from the Subtles Paper Stack.
• I've added a touch of vintage using the Timeless Textures stamps on the stitched circle and DSP piece

Sweet Succulent Garden Projects

We made some pretty projects in class last week using the Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper.
All three of these projects can be used for Easter, or any occasion really.
I think I like the card best:

There's hardly any stamping on this card - just the sentiment. The rest is Designer Series Paper (just a bit of fussy cutting!) and a couple of embellishments.
TIP: my Pool Party cardstock was a little bright for the DSP, so I toned it down using a Whisper White inkpad. It's a little trick that I like to use  often - just 'swipe' your inkpad across the cardstock and then use a tissue to wipe off the excess. Your cardstock will be pretty much ready to use straight away.
Here is a closer look at the box:

I've done the same 'swiping' trick on the inside of the lid. The lighter shade provides a bit more contrast. The sweet little tag shape is part of the Window Box set of dies.
The final project is the Egg Carton:

I've dyed mine using ink refills (a 50:50 mix of Wild Wasabi and Old Olive - 6 drops of each) and alcohol in a Spritzer.
The rest is just decoration, again using the Succulent Garden DSP and Sweet Sugarplum ribbon. I punched 4 holes in the egg carton using the handheld punch, to thread the ribbon through. I even punched out some 1" circles to go under the Easter eggs:
