Gently Falling Stamp-a-Stack

I like to showcase retiring stamp sets and colours in my June classes...it's always nice to have one last play before they are gone forever. Here I've used the "Gently Falling" stamp set for a set of Stamp-a-Stack Cards. I usually use Autumn tones with this stamp set, but I decided to try something a bit different this time - the colour combination is Soft Sky, Pear Pizzazz and retiring In Color Midnight Muse. This is a  2-step stamp set, so each image has an outline and a corresponding 'fill-in' image. I didn't 2-step my images for these cards. Instead, I stamped a random background pattern, using the 2 lighter colours for the fill-in, and Midnight Muse for the outline.
My Whisper White pieces are 14.3 x 9cm. After I stamped my background, I tore/cut the piece at about the 2/3 mark. It's a simple (and cheap!) way to add some interest. The sentiments are just placed along the tear line.
I think I'll be re-creating this design in lots of other colours with other stamp sets!

Farewell Field Flowers - Card 3

Here's the final Field Flowers card in the set of three. I've been crafting with stamps for years now (17 years...how crazy is that??) and it still never ceases to amaze me how different one stamp can look. This card is pretty far removed from the 'fine china' look of the last card...I've gone for striking and dramatic here.
To get this look, I've stamped in Whisper White craft ink on Basic Black cardstock. Once the ink has dried (you can speed up the process with a heat tool), colour over the image with regular coloured pencils or watercolour pencils. The image really 'pops' on the black background.

Farewell Field Flowers - Card 2

This was my favourite Field Flowers card (in blue, wouldn't you know it?). This is Marina Mist and Very Vanilla...it reminds me of fine china.
It's just a simple layout on a large square card, but sometimes I think simple is the best.

Farewell Field Flowers - Card 1

I've been busy getting ready for my new Catalogue Launch Party next Sunday. It's a pretty good life when "busy" equates to playing with new stuff :)
But...I'm not going to show you my new creations just yet. Instead, here's another card from the vault, that I thought I had better show you before everything on it retires! This was another card I had published in Cardmaking, Stamping and Papercraft magazine a while back. I had to use the "Field Flowers" stamp set 3 ways for a Stampers Challenge. For this card, I attempted to put a more masculine spin on it, using autumnal tones.
"Field Flowers" is on the Retirement List...if it hasn't sold out already!
To create the background effect, I 'swiped' my inkpads across a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock until I was happy with the effect. I used Cajun Craze and Early Espresso ink. It's a very quick and easy way to DIY patterned paper.
I'll be back soon to show you the other 2 cards I submitted.

Oh, Hello Goodbye! - Card 3

I went with peachy tones for my third "Oh, Hello" card. I think it's the Core'dinations cardstock that really makes this card 'pop'. I'm so sad to see this cardstock retire. I love the textured feel of it, and also that weathered look you get by sanding it to reveal the inner core.
I've used Crisp Cantaloupe, Calypso Coral and Very Vanilla on this card.

Project Life and Stampin' Up!

Get ready for a scrapbooking revolution with Project Life! It helps busy people (so basically all of us) document life using photos and journaling in a quick, simple, and fabulous way. We've partnered with Becky Higgins, creator of Project Life, to offer a complete line of elite products.
Becky explains, "It's called Project LIFE because it's about YOUR LIFE. Whatever your life is. Whatever your stage of life. Whatever your family circumstances. Whatever your lifestyle. Project Life is designed to help anyone and everyone get their pictures into a book."  In a nutshell, it's all about spending more time making memories and less time scrapbooking them.

I'm so excited, because although I've never been a dedicated Scrapbooker, I am dedicated to preserving memories. I hate the thought of all those precious photos that we all take hiding on phones, iPads and computers, never seeing the light of day. I want to preserve those precious moments and memories for my children and grandchildren. This system is so quick, easy and affordable.

The full range of Project Life Items will be available in the new Catalogue on July 1. If you can't wait that long, you can get your hands on some pre-order items RIGHT NOW (see them in my Online Store HERE):

Oh, Hello Goodbye! - Card 2

This is the second card I made for my magazine submission a while back. "Oh Hello" is such a fun set to play with and I had no trouble coming up with ideas! I was only asked to submit 2 cards, but I couldn't help myself, and sent in 3...I'll show you the third one next time.
I went for some stronger colours this time - Midnight Muse, Old Olive and Rich Razzleberry, with a bit of Crumb Cake thrown in for good measure!

Oh, Hello Goodbye! - Card 1

It's always a bit sad to say goodbye to favourite stamp sets. I haven't played with this one nearly as much as I would have liked. It's called "Oh, Hello" and the wood mount set is on the Retirement List at the bargain price of $26.97...that's 40% off!

This is a card I made for a magazine. I kept it crisp and clean, with lots of white, plus Smoky Slate and a little splash of yellow. The Framed Tulips Embossing Folder is also on the Retirement List...but only while stocks last!

I have 2 more cards using this set to show you. I'll be back soon with those.

A Big Day!

I am computer-less at the moment, hence the lack of blog posts. My laptop had been throwing tantrums for a while now (you know, "it's all too much! I can't cope!" - CRASH - scenarios whenever I tried to open more than one window). I'm typing this on my iPad mini while it's in having data transferred to a new computer. I'm hoping to have it back soon though, since we're about to head into the busiest 2 months of the Stampin' Up! Year!

Tomorrow is a big day....not only does my baby Amy turn 17 (I know, can you believe it? I hear you all saying "She looks so young! How is it possible that she is the mother of a 17 year old?" ...I was a child bride lol), but it is also a big day in the world of Stampin' Up!

Tomorrow the Retirement List will be released. That means that the best day to buy your supplies of the outgoing In Colors is TODAY! (Midnight Muse, Gumball Green, Raspberry Ripple, Summer Starfruit and Primrose Petals). The ink refills and cardstock always sell out really fast, so email me or head into my Online Store if you need to stock up (check out the new Weekly Deals while you're there).... The link is over on the right ------>>>>>>>>

We also have an awesome Starter Kit Promotion on at the moment, running until the end of June. You can join Stampin' Up! for only $85. For that, you can choose $90 worth of products, free shipping, PLUS you will get 4 current catalogues and 8 new catalogues! It's the perfect time to join, with a new catalogue just around the corner (you'll get to see it first, AND get 30% off your new goodies!)

Hopefully I'll be back soon, posting from my new computer!

June Class Dates

After nearly 4 weeks fun family adventures around the US, it is lovely to be home. The four of us had a week in New York, 2 days in Niagara Falls, a week in Orlando, a week cruising the Caribbean (courtesy of Stampin' Up!)and then a day in LA. It was amazing, and we have so many happy memories to treasure (and photos to scrapbook!)
Here we are, all excited and ready to board the ship:

Now, I'm excited to be going to Convention next week in Melbourne. After that, I will be back into running classes and getting ready for the Retirement List and brand new Annual Catalogue (released on July 1st). No rest for me!

I am working on getting my newsletter ready, but in the meantime I thought I would let you know about my upcoming classes for June, in case you are a Sydney-sider and would like to attend.

Wetlands Sunset

Did you know that our Acrylic blocks aren't just for mounting stamps on to? You can also use them to make a background feature. I've gone for a sunset look here by colouring the block with markers, giving it a light spritz of water and then stamping on to Naturals White cardstock. I used Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze and Tangerine Tango for my sunset. I then stamped the reeds/wheat/grassy stuff(??) from Wetlands in the corner in Soft Suede ink.
The rest is pretty simple - Hardwood background (again!), a bit of twine, and a bit of sponging. Perfect Masculine Card!
