Hello Prairie Grass

I tried to resist buying the Prairie Grass stamp set, but it was no use. I kept seeing really lovely cards made using this set, and the simple silhouette style of the images really appealed to me. Life is pretty busy these days so a stamp set that is one-and-done is just what I need. All this stamp set needs is a background. You can create one yourself or find some suitable Designer Series Paper.

I used Masking Paper and Blending Brushes to make this soft background panel. The ink colours are Darling Duckling, Cloud Cover and Mossy Meadow. I stamped the Prairie Grass image in Secret Sea, a lovely deep blue that's not as harsh as black. I embellished with Linen Thread and a few Iridescent Foil Gems, and popped it on a Basic White card base.

Prairie Grass Thinking of You

I tried to resist buying the Prairie Grass stamp set, but it was no use. I kept seeing really lovely cards made using this set, and the simple silhouette style of the images really appealed to me. This is the Thoughtful Journey 6"x6" DSP, and I've chosen one of the washy watercolour-look patterns. I stamped the Prairie Grass image in Secret Sea, a lovely deep blue that's not as harsh as black. I embellished with Linen Thread and a few Iridescent Foil Gems, and popped it on a Basic Beige card base.

Sunflower Card Set

Here is the set of cards that I made using the gorgeous Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder. It's a beautiful pattern that lends itself to lots of different techniques. I used 3 different 'swiping' techniques on these cards. If you scroll back on the individual blog entries, you can read in detail how I made each card.

I didn't want to cover up the sunflowers too much, so I just used a piece of the Woven Textures DSP, along with some Linen Thread under the sentiments. I had fun making these!

Sunflower Thank You

And here is the third card that I made using the gorgeous Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder. It's a beautiful pattern that lends itself to lots of different techniques.

For this card, I was going for a burnished metal look. To achieve this, I first ran a piece of Early Espresso two-tone cardstock through the Cut & Emboss Machine with the Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder. The beauty of two-tone cardstock is that it has a white core, so that when you give it a light sand, you reveal the white on all the raised areas. Once I'd done that, I swiped over all the white parts with a Crumb Cake inkpad. Then I used Wink of Stella to give the whole thing a bit of sparkle. Here's a closer look at the effect:

Sunflower Wishes

Here is the second card I made using the gorgeous Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder. It's a beautiful pattern that lends itself to lots of different techniques.

For this card, I ran a piece of Basic White cardstock through the embossing folder. On the 'indented' side, I roughly coloured the flowers and leaves using Blends (Darling Duckling, Old Olive and Crumb Cake). You don't even need to stay in the lines, because the edges all get covered up in the next step. 'Swipe' over the top using an Early Espresso inkpad. You'll get ink on the raised areas, leaving the colour to show underneath. I didn't want to cover it up too much, so I just used a piece of the Woven Textures DSP, along with some Linen Thread under the sentiment.
