When we get a new Catalogue, one of the first things I like to do is copy a card EXACTLY from the catalogue, and then make my own version. When I do a "catalogue tour" at workshops, it's a great way to show what a useful tool the catalogue is. No wonder it's called an Idea book!
This year, I copied the card at the top of page 83:
And then I made my own version....using DSP also made it very quick and easy. Don't forget about this month's Special Promotion if you want to stock up on DSP. By 3 packs, get one free!
No one would even recognise it as the same card, but the great thing is that making it took very little brain power on my behalf! (always a good thing!)
Here's my Challenge: Why not give it a go next time you're stumped for ideas? I've challenged my team this month to do just that. You can join us if you like! Just post a comment here, and include a link to your own creation. I'll pick my favourite at the end of the month to win a Patterns Pack II Level 1 Hostess Gift. Entries must be in by May 31. Open to anyone in Australia, SU! Demos included. You can see the Stampin' Supplies list for all the ingredients of the first card, and here's the recipe for my version:
Materials (all Stampin' Up!)
stamps: Cheep Talk, On Your Birthday
ink: Pink Pirouette, Regal Rose, Chocolate Chip
card: Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Sweet Always DSP
other: Curly Label punch, 1 1/4" circle Punch, Eyelet Border Punch, Regal Rose Wide Grosgrain ribbon
Hi Marelle, I cased this card from the caty p.81 before we went to convention. It is a great sketch using the Friends 24/7.ReplyDelete
Great sketch Marelle - both cards look lovely. I did not even know about the rules with the colour coach. Bought it last year and have only used it once but was never happy with the result. I will have to read it and see what to do now ;0 when in doubt, read the instructions huh!ReplyDelete
Hi Marelle! This is too funny! I havent visited your blog for a day or so, but I made that exact same card, changed the colours and a few other little things - but how uncanny is that! Great minds think alike hey! lolReplyDelete
Hi Marelle - I was inspired to CASE the Catty already after seeing your Workshop Wow presentation at Convention (loved it by the way). Here's my Case of page 104 of the Catty (it's the last photo on my post).ReplyDelete
Hope this works!
Hi Marelle, decided to do the challenge - thank you so much :) I also kept in mind about the color coach about the rules of using colours, so thank you also for that :) http://tracybayley.blogspot.com/2009/05/i-decided-to-go-for-marelle-taylors.htmlReplyDelete

What an awesome challenge, I never even think to refer to the catty for inspiration, very foolish! Here is a case I have done from page 81ReplyDelete
This was a great idea, I've had the catalogue for so long and never seem to case any layouts from it.
Here are my cards Paula
