'Cheat' Shaker Card

Shaker cards are lots of fun to give and receive, but they can be quite fiddly to make. I call this a 'cheat' Shaker Card. It's been made using the Sweet Treat Cups. It's quick and effective and much easier than fiddling with layers, window sheets and mounting tape. The Shaker 'bits' are paper confetti, made using the Fringe scissors - simply cut a fringe and then cut across it at 90 degrees to snip tiny pieces of confetti.
I made this card before we had the Stars Embossing Folder, so to make my star background, I've glued punched-out stars to a plain piece of cardstock. It's a great trick when your background is a bit plain but you don't want anything too busy.
I love this bright and cheery colour combination - Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry.

Mosaic Tile Technique #2

This is the other card we're making in this week's Technique Classes. Again, I've used the Flashback DSP on this card (love this paper...it's great for 'boy' cards!). I've also used the camera from the Traveler stamp set (another great 'boy' set!).
The real feature of this card is the Mosaic effect on the main panel. I can't reveal too many secrets (I don't want to spoil it for my class ladies) but I will say it involves rubber scraps!

Mosaic Tile Technique #1

I'm looking forward to this week's technique classes. We're doing a couple of fun mosaic techniques, one using stamps (I'll show you that one next time) and this one using patterned paper. I've used the Flashback DSP on this card, and Smoky Slate Embossing powder for the "grout".

Blackberry Blooms

I made this card for a special someone's birthday a little while ago. I've made lots of cards colouring the Blended Bloom with Blendabilities, but you don't always need to watercolour this stamp. Here, I've sponged the colour on with a dauber. I've also stamped I Love Lace in the background. My colour scheme is Smoky Slate and Blackberry Bliss.

The school holidays have flown by too quickly...Can I have one more week?? I'm not quite ready to get back into routine yet. At least we have a Public Holiday today to ease us back into it. Amy starts Year 12, her final year of highschool this term too, which is kind of a big deal!

Traveler meets Lost Lagoon

Lost Lagoon is a great colour for masculine cards, and the Traveler stamp set is my go-to masculine stamp set. World Map is such a natural partner for this set. I just wanted the World Map to be a subtle background to the ship, so I've stamped it in Sahara Sand and sponged the edges too.

TIP: I've also sponged the Moonlight Designer Series Paper with Sahara Sand ink...it's a good trick to soften the whiteness of the paper.

Wondrous Wreath

The Wondrous Wreath Bundle went on my must-have list straight away. I love how precisely you can cut out the wreath using the framelits, and I love the co-ordinating bow and word framelits too. The wreath looks beautiful when it is cut out, but with these cards, I wanted to show that it looks just as good when it isn't cut out. I've used Old Olive, Mossy Meadow and Real Red for my colour scheme.
Just a simple banner is all that you need behind the wreaths (I've cut my banner in half and made it longer - the gap is hidden behind the square piece).
