CCMC563 Broadway Birthday

It's Thursday, and that means it's Challenge time again over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com. This week is a colour challenge, and these are the colours we had to work with:

Here I am CaSEing the new Catalogue again. It's definitely my favourite source of inspiration. If you have your new Catalogue handy, have a look at page 67. You'll see a card that looks very similar to this one! I just re-made the card using these 3 colours of our Colour Challenge.

I've used Shimmery White cardstock for my card. It tolerates water quite well for a watercolour wash, and has a subtle shimmer to it too. I also used an aquapainter on the stamped balloon images to give them a watercolour look as well.

The stamp set I've used is called Broadway Birthday. I've also used the co-ordinating Broadway Lights dies. At the moment, these are available as a bundle for 10% off. This option is only available until June 3. In the new Catalogue, there is no bundle price, so grab them now!

I hope you like my card! Check out what the other talented stampers have come up with HERE. Don't forget you can play along over on the facebook page

Eclectic Old Meets New

I'm really going to miss Lemon Lime Twist. We don't have any other colours like it in our range, so it's really going to leave a hole. I just had to take the opportunity to pair it with a brand new In Color coming very soon Pretty Peacock. I've also added a splash of Pool Party into the mix.

This stamp set and dies, Oh So Eclectic and Eclectic Layers are retiring too. I'm a bit sad about that too - these stamps and dies make it so easy to throw a card together.

Oh well, I guess I'll go and console myself by playing with some new stamps!
Thanks for stopping by!

Tea Together Swap

I recently attended a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Event in Auckland, New Zealand. It was equal measures of fun, learning and inspiration. These events are one of my favourite parts of being a Demonstrator, and one of my favourite parts of the event is swapping. I took along 35 of these cards, and swapped them with other Demonstrators, so that I came home with 35 different cards. Lots of connections made and plenty of inspiration there!

I used the Tea Together stamp set from the Occasions Catalogue. I drink a lot of tea, and I love old-fashioned tea sets, so this stamp set is very 'me'. I've paired it with the Tin Tile Embossing Folder (another love of mine), which I've gently swiped with White Craft ink after embossing. I coloured the flower with my Blends, and did these in a variety of colours (but I think this Lovely Lipstick one was my favourite).

The Soft Sea Foam piece has been given the Subtle embossing folder treatment. The die-cut sentiment and the piece of twine are the finishing touches.

Hopefully all the other swappers liked my card!

CCMC562 Garden Lane

It's Thursday, and that means it's Challenge time again over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com.
This week is a sketch challenge, and this is the sketch we had to work with:

At this time of year I'm always torn between playing with my Retiring Items one last time and breaking out new products. You can probably guess which side won this week! If you don't recognise the Designer Series Paper I've used on this card, that's because it is brand new! You're going to love the new patterns and colours we have coming our way. This pack is called Garden Lane, and it's all about green! We have several shades of green here - Mossy Meadow, Mint Macaron, Soft Sea Foam, Pear Pizzazz and Garden Green. Who would have thought they'd all work so well together?

I've also broken out a new stamp set called Butterfly Wishes and some new Stitched Nested Label Dies. The sentiment and the little butterfly are both part of the stamp set. I've used the dies to cut out the sentiment and mat it, and to add a row of stitching to the strip along the side. There are 2 butterflies in this set that co-ordinate with the Butterfly Punch (gotta love that!)
.
I hope you like my card. Check out what the other talented stampers have come up with HERE. Don't forget you can play along over on the facebook page!

Bloom by Bloom Stamp-a-Stack

Every year there are some stamp sets that I am ready to say farewell to, and others that I feel like I'm not nearly done with. We haven't had this Bloom by Bloom stamp set for very long and sadly it didn't make it in to our new Annual Catalogue. I just love the variety of different types of flowers you can create using this set. I've made 4 very different looking cards, and I didn't even use all the stamps in the set. I also pulled out another couple of retiring stamp sets out for the sentiments.

I used the co-ordinating Happiness Blooms Designer Series Paper on these cards. There are lots of colours in these papers, but I've just used 3 - Calypso Coral, Night of Navy and Call me Clover (I love these 3 together!).

You can see all the items I've used to create these cards listed below.

Piece of Cake Stamp-a-Stack

In class last week we played with some Retiring Colours and a Retiring Bundle. It's always fun to have one last play with the outgoing In Colours, and this pack of patterned paper.

The Piece of Cake Bundle is amazing value at $54.75 for a Builder Punch and a 21-piece stamp set! This stamp set and punch are in our new Annual Catalogue, but not at the bundle price (10% discount), so grab it before June 4th.

I've applied just a touch of colour to the images using a Blender Pen and inkpad (still one of my favourite techniques!). The sentiments on these cards are all from the Piece of Cake stamp set. I think my favourite is "Cake is the answer  ....who cares what the question is?". And even better, they fit nicely in the Classic Label Punch.

We did 5 cards instead of the usual 4 for this set. I just couldn't bear to leave one colour out!
