Goodbye Balloon Adventures!

I really wish the Balloon Adventures stamp set had carried over into our new Annual Catalogue. It's a great set for birthday cards for all ages and genders...and especially for my husband!
This is a nice bright 'boy' card in Dapper Denim, Tangerine Tango and Emerald Envy. Make sure you grab some of that cute Emerald Envy ribbon for the bargain price of $5. It will come in handy for Christmas projects too!
Do you like my Stitched Rectangle? No, we don't have stitched rectangles, but using the Partial Die-cutting technique, you can extend your dies and make new shapes! There's lots of videos on YouTube showing this technique.

Detailed Floral Elegance

How exquisite are the Detailed Floral Thinlits? These are my go-to for Wedding and Engagement cards, but they also make perfect birthday or even sympathy cards. There is something just so elegant and refined about them. I like to pop a piece of Designer Series Paper behind the cut-out. Choose a small pattern in monochromatic tones, otherwise it will look too busy.

Grab the Floral Phrases bundle before the end of this month, and you'll get 10% off. Both of these beautiful sentiments are part of the stamp set.

A Little Foxy

I was so happy when I saw Foxy Friends and the Foxy Builder Punch in our new Catalogue. But, I have a hot tip for you...if you love them, get them BEFORE the new Catalogue is released on June 1. At the moment, you can get the stamp set and punch as a bundle and save 10%, but in the New Catalogue, they are only available separately. You're welcome!

So in Love with Calypso Coral

I have lots of Calypso Coral going on today! It's one of my favourite colours for flowers. I had one last play with the So in Love stamp set from the Occasions Catalogue. Sadly, it is not carrying over to our new Annual Catalogue. On the card above, I've used the "No Line" Watercolouring technique. This was my first try at this technique and I think I've still got some practising to do! Here are some tips, if you'd like to give it a go:

• Stamp on watercolour paper with a pale coloured ink. You can use the colour that you will be colouring in with, stamped off a few times, or a light colour such as Smoky Slate, stamped off twice. It needs to be light enough that when coloured you won’t be able to see the line and yet dark enough that you can still see where to watercolour
• Take your time. This technique CAN’T be done quickly and is best done in layers.
• Make sure you have CONTRAST in the spaces where a line would divide your image. If you don't have enough contrast between light and dark, everything in your image will end up just blending together and won't have any definition.
• You might want to work on one area, and then move to another that isn't adjacent so that the first one has time to dry and any new colour from the second area won't blend into the first.

The flower on my second card is much simpler. I just stamped it in Calypso Coral ink on a sheet of the Cupcakes and Carousels Designer Series Paper. The beautiful tag and ribbon are part of the co-ordinating Embellishment Kit

Clean and Simple Touches of Texture

I love clean and simple cards, but they can be tricky to pull off. I'm not sure I've managed it here... My colours are Mint Macaron, Island Indigo and Very Vanilla and I've used a gorgeous stamp set called Touches of Texture. The 'panel' has been masked with post-it notes and sponged in Mint Macaron ink. I've also lightly stamped some of the images from the set. Next, I removed the masks and stamped the dragonflies and sentiment in Island Indigo ink.
I've lightly coloured the dragonfly wings with a Blender Pen. TIP: These are increasing in price by $4 per pack in the new Catalogue, so grab them before the end of the month if you need to stock up!

Fabulous Foil Window Cards

The Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate is a real 'wow', no matter which side you use. It's silver on one side, and gold on the other and comes in 3 different patterns.
The gold and silver work with any colours. I've used Sweet Sugarplum, Emerald Envy and Wisteria Wonder.

Here's how I made these cards:
Fold a 29.7 x 10.5cm piece of cardstock in half to make your card. Cut the front in half (at 7.4cm). Stamp on the cut off piece, tie ribbon/twine and set aside. Place a 2cm x 10.5cm strip lined up with the base of the card. Cut your Acetate to 10.5 x 7.6cm (3”) and apply a strip of Tear'n'Tape to the top and bottom. Adhere acetate piece to the card front and 2cm strip. Next, adhere stamped piece over the top of the cardfront. Adhere a second 2cm x 10.5cm second strip to the bottom of cardfront, over the top of the acetate so that the tape is not visible.

CCMC459 Rustic Leaves

It's Thursday, and that means it's Challenge time again over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com.
This week is a sketch challenge, and this is the sketch we had to work with:

I spy with my little eye...some brand new framelits, stamps and DSP! I've been playing with some new goodies from our 2017-18 Annual Catalogue....only 7 sleeps to go and you can get your hands on them too.
  • I've gone for a rustic feel and used the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper. This 6"x6" paper stack has every type of wood pattern and colour you could possibly wish for. I know I'll be using these a LOT.
  • I've used a Delicate White Doily for the medallion element.
  • The gorgeous detailed leaves are from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits. Aren't they stunning! I've die-cut one in Soft Suede and one in Early Espresso. I've also die-cut 2 solid leaves in vellum, and sponged the edges to place behind the detailed leaves.
  • The sentiment is from the co-ordinating stamp set Colourful Seasons. The font in this set is just beautiful. I've stamped it in Early Espresso
  • I've pulled out an old favourite Timeless Textures to stamp the edges of my Sahara Sand card
  • The vertical banner is Copper Foil Sheet, which I've lightly sanded to give a distressed look
I hope you like my card. Check out what the other talented stampers have come up with HERE. Don't forget you can play along over on the facebook page!

Farewell Mint Macaron

I made this card design in a few different colours, but this Mint Macaron version was definitely my favourite. It's a simple design but the Acetate and splashes of gold make it feel special. The butterfly has been punched from the doily centre (waste not, want not!) and the Metallic Enamel Shapes finish off the stamped flowers perfectly.
Farewell, Mint Macaron!

Dapper Eastern Palace

Dapper Denim, Very Vanilla and Gold makes for an elegant colour combination. There's very little stamping on this card....the Designer Series Paper and Gold Vinyl stickers do all the work. How amazing do these beautiful stickers look? There's lots of layered circles on this card and it's hard to tell from the pic, but it has lots of dimension. I've also angled the main piece to make it more dynamic. It's a good trick to have up your sleeve to take a simple card to the next level, without adding anything more.
