Painted Petals Card Set

One of my favourite stamp sets from the Occasions Catalogue would definitely have to be Painted Petals. It's such a pretty stamp set and I'm a bit devastated that it doesn't make an appearance in our New Annual Catalogue. That means you only have until June 2 to purchase this set.
I liked this simple card so much that I decided to make it in a whole bunch of colours:

Edited to Add: The colours I've used for these cards are So Saffron, Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral and Pool Party (and Pear Pizazz for the leaves)

Adventure Bound Traveler!

I thought I would schedule a few blog posts while I'm in Hawaii, just so you don't miss me too much ;o)
It seemed appropriate to show you this "Adventure Bound" card while I'm off on Hawaii adventures:

...And even more appropriate that I've teamed it with the Traveler stamp set! The Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack has lots of fun photographic prints that really add a little something different to your creations.
I decided to stamp my ship on vellum so the ocean shows through, and what better to frame it than a porthole? I made my 'porthole' using Circle framelits and Silver Mini Brads.
This would make a great retirement or Bon Voyage card, or even just a masculine birthday card.

My Convention Swap

I had an amazing time last week at the Stampin' Up! South Pacific Convention on the Gold Coast...Thanks to my awesome team and customers, I was even lucky enough to take home a couple of awards :o)
I arrived home last Sunday, and have barely had time to draw breath since then. The week has flown by, and I can hardly believe that tomorrow Dave and I will be flying out to Hawaii! This is for the Stampin' Up! Incentive Trip that I earned last year, again with the help of my wonderful team and customers. I will be toasting you all with a couple of Pina Coladas, and posting updates to my facebook page.
Swapping is such a fun part of Convention and the Incentive Trip. This year, with the 2 so close together, my house has been a hive of swap-making activity!
Here's my simple (but hopefully still cute!) swap from Convention:

I made 50 of these, and came home with 50 inspiring swap cards from 50 lovely ladies.
Even though my card is simple, I tried to include a couple of 'wows' - I wrapped the Beach House Washi Tape around the back of my piece of cardstock and then punched just half a butterfly, which I then flipped and attached with Dimensionals. I also stamped my greeting on the Washi Tape, using Black Stazon ink.
Hopefully all the ladies I swapped with liked my card!

Occasions Catalogue Retiring Products

Lots of items from the Occasions Catalogue won't be making an appearance in our new Annual Catalogue. These items are only available until June 2, so you'll need to order them by then so you don't miss out!

Note that I have only listed the clear and photopolymer stamps, but the wood-mount version (where available) will also be retiring.

Bow Builder Gift

I'm currently enjoying Stampin' Up! Convention on the Gold Coast (If you'd like to see what we're getting up to, I'm posting Convention updates on my facebook page). Thanks to the wonders of technology, I've scheduled this post so you won't miss me too much ;o)
Here's another cute and quick card using the Bow Builder Punch (and another great way to use some scraps of Designer Series Paper).

All you need to do is cut a square piece of patterned paper, and a small strip in a contrasting colour. Then top your 'present' off with a bow!
I've used a very simple layout, and positioned my greeting inside a punched-out oval. Easy Peasy!
Thanks for stopping by.... Happy weekend, everyone!

Bows for Boys

Who says Bows are just for girls? The Bow Builder Punch makes a great bow tie for a masculine card. I've made a tuxedo for my card. This would make a great card for an 18th or 21st, or for a James Bond fan!
The centre panel has been made using the Banners Framelits, and the buttons are Rhinestones.
Very simple, but stylish! (Well, I think so!)

Bows for Baby

This week I thought I would show you some cards I have made using the Bow Builder Punch. It's such a cute little punch, and makes perfect paper bows, every time.
I've used 3 bows on this card to make a quick and cute baby card. It's a great way to make use of scrap Designer Series Paper.

TIP: Glue Dots work well to put these bows together, but I've got an even easier method - brads. Just pierce a small hole through the centre of the bow, and thread the pieces onto a brad! I've added a little flower to the centre too.

Hawaii Grand Vacation Blog Hop

Welcome to our Grand Vacation Achievers Blog Hop. If you have arrived here from Dawn Griffith's blog and are visiting me for the first time, Welcome! ...and I hope it won't be your last visit.

This tour has a Hawaiian theme, and will take you to blogs from around the world, so grab a cuppa (or maybe a Pina Colada!) and get ready to get Hawaiian with us!

Without further ado, here's my 'aloha' card:

At first the lack of Hawaiian-themed stamps stumped me, but once I started to think outside the box, I realised I could do some creative re-spelling with my thinlits:

I used "hello" and "happy" to spell "aloha" (the extra 'a' I needed was also from the 'happy' thinlit). I made my letters all shiny with Crystal Effects.

I also decided to make a pretty punch-art Hibiscus:

I used the Blossom Punch to punch a flower from Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock and snipped down each petal to separate them a bit more, and then overlapped two of the petals to make a 5-petal flower. I stamped the 'Build a Bouquet' flower centre in Calypso Coral, and sponged in Calypso Coral and Crushed Curry. To make the stamen, I placed some Sticky Strip onto a narrow piece of Crushed Curry cardstock, and rolled it into a tube. I snipped some Hello Honey quilted ribbon into shreds and glued them on to the stamen with Multipurpose Glue. I punched a small hole in the flower centre and secured the stamen at the back. I curled the petals with my Bone Folder.

To make my background, I stamped some of the 'Build a Bouquet' elements all over a piece of Shimmery White cardstock in Versamark ink, and clear embossed them. After it was heat-set, I stamped over the top using the same images, this time in Calypso Coral and Crushed Curry. I then 'filled in the gaps' by sponging all over in Crisp Cantaloupe....Voila, a 'tropical' background!

I hope you liked my creation. Your next stop is Dena Rekow's blog. Enjoy!

Sheltering Tree Stamp-a-Stack

Sheltering Tree would have to be my most-used stamp set in the Occasions Catalogue. It's such a versatile set.
We're making this set of cards in this week's Stamp-a-stack classes. The colours I've used are Pear Pizzazz, Island Indigo, Hello Honey and Blushing Bride. I've also used the Stacked With Love Designer Series Paper Stack.
To make the 'leaves' on the Hello Honey card, I've punched flowers from the Itty Bitty Accent punch, and snipped them into quarters to make leaves.
Thanks for visiting!

Painted Petals Stamp-a-Stack

I'm back to classes this week, but for one week only - next week I'm off to Stampin' Up! Convention on the Gold Coast. Then a week after that, my hubby and I are off on an all-expenses-paid trip to Hawaii for the Stampin' Up! Grand Vacation (it's a tough life, I tell ya! ;)

I wanted to squeeze in a Stamp-a-Stack Class before all that jet-setting and excitement....and I wanted to showcase the Retiring In Colors. On this set of cards, I've used all 5 colours. I'm going to miss these gelato tones, especially Coastal Cabana (you all know I'm a blue-green girl!).
I think these pretty colours work really well with the Painted Petals stamp set. I hope my class ladies this week like them!
These colours will definitely be on the Retirement List (released tomorrow) and then will be available only while stocks last. Make sure you stock up on any that you need right away.

Bye Bye In Colors

The Retirement List will be released on April 21...that's this Tuesday! We never know what stamps, tools and accessories Stampin' Up! will be retiring each year, but one thing we do know is that one batch of In Colors will be disappearing. This year, we say goodbye to Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding and Strawberry Slush.

Which one will you miss most? For me, it's Coastal Cabana, for sure *sniff!*

I'd recommend stocking up on your favourites now, before the list is released. These always sell out quickly, particularly the ink refills and cardstock. You can click on the picture above to go directly to my store, or click on any of the individual products below. You are also welcome to email me your order any time.
