CCMC550 Fable Friends

It's Thursday, and that means it's Challenge time again over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com.
This week is a sketch challenge, and this is the sketch we had to work with:

How is this for a giant dose of CUTE! This is the Fable Friends stamp set from page 30 of the Occasions Catalogue. It's perfect for cards for Easter, babies or young children...or just the young at heart! The images remind me of Beatrix Potter's drawings, which I loved as a child, and still love today.

Here I've used Mrs Duck and her tribe of ducklings. Don't they look so happy, dressed up in their finery? The Daffodil Delight Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper is the perfect pairing, I think. The vellum layer adds just a touch of softness. The Whisper White Flax Ribbon provides some texture and a touch of rustic charm.

I've taken a little bit of artistic licence with the sketch, so that I could add the sentiment to one of my strips.

I hope you like my card. Check out what the other talented stampers have come up with HERE. Don't forget you can play along over on the facebook page!

Meant to Be

This is the card we made at our last team training get-together. I CaSEd the card on page 7 of the Occasions Catalogue, with a few changes.

We used the Meant to Be bundle (bargain alert: when you order this bundle, you automatically qualify for a Sale-a-Bration item!). That means you could get the Country Floral embossing folder that I've used on this card absolutely FREE!

There's lots of pretty details on this card - the coloured rose die-cut, the stitched heart, that gorgeous variegated ribbon and the beautiful patterned vellum.

I hope you're having a great week! Thanks for stopping by.

Gingham Blooms

Here's a sweet and simple little card I made last week using the Bloom by Bloom stamp set.
The colour scheme I've used is Balmy Blue and Mint Macaron (love these together!) with a little bit of sparkle, courtesy of the silver twine and a few sequins.
I also popped on some Balmy Blue Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper (I'm going through a ton of this paper. The sentiment is part of the Itty Bitty Birthdays set in the Occasions Catalogue.

CCMC549 Beauty Abounds

It's Thursday, and that means it's Challenge time again over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com. This week is a colour challenge, and these are the colours we had to work with:

When I saw these 3 colours together, a watercolour wash immediately came to mind. These colours are analogous (next to each other on the colour wheel) so they blend together really well. To create this effect, I used Glossy White cardstock and did a wash of water over it with a paintbrush. Then I made a palette using drops of ink refill on a plastic plate. I used my paintbrush to pick up some of the ink and applied it to the wet glossy cardstock. The magic happens as the ink pools and spreads and the colours blend. I allowed this to dry naturally rather than using a heat tool to speed it up.

This was my first play with the Beauty Abounds bundle (thanks to my lovely team member Priscilla who lent it to me!). These Butterfly Beauty thinlits are just stunning, and the sentiment comes from the co-ordinating stamp set.

I hope you like my card! Check out what the other talented stampers have come up with HERE. Don't forget you can play along over on the facebook page

Geared Up Garage Class

Since the first set of cards we are making is quite pretty and girly, I thought I should balance it out with a set designed with boys in mind. This is the other set of card we are making in this week's classes:

I don't think anyone could call these ones girly! We are making good use of the Classic Garage Designer Series Paper, and also the co-ordinating Geared Up Garage bundle (stamp set and dies).

I've stamped some of the images and cut others from the Designer Series Paper. I've also made good use of the paper for all the panels on these cards (the only other cardstock I've used is the ovals and the Basic Grey card base). I even die-cut the gears from the DSP. Even the plain sides of this paper have a lovely textured look to them. These were a lot of fun to put together.

Thanks for visiting!

Gingham and Cupcakes Class

I'm back to classes this week, and I can't wait! It's been too long. I'm so looking forward to seeing everyone again.
Of course we're using lots of pretty new products. This is one set of cards we are making:

I'm loving these colours from the Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper. They look almost good enough to eat ...perfect for these sweet cupcakes! I've used Crumb Cake as my neutral (it works really well with pastel tones)
I've made both single- and double-decker cupcakes, and decorated them with flowers, hearts and bows. I used Lovely Lipstick (the perfect cross between red and pink) as the accent colour.
Even though these cards are simple, I've also decorated the insides of these cards and matching envelopes, to take them to the next level.
Hopefully everyone will enjoy making this set on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Thanks for stopping by!
