Friendship in Alaska

As well as the official Stampin' Up! swap, the South Pacific Demonstrators always organise a swap of our own. Rather than full sized cards, we swap 3"x4" Pocket Album cards. That way we have a set of handmade pocket cards, ready to slip into our photo albums on our return. It makes a lovely souvenir of the trip.
On the Alaskan cruise this year our theme was 'friendship' and our colours were Blueberry Bushel, Mango Melody and Pineapple Punch. I decided an ocean scene would be quite appropriate! Lots of stamping, sponging and masking on this one.
I can't wait to see what all the other ladies come up with!

CCMC520 Broadway Birthday

It's Thursday, and that means it's Challenge time again over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com.
This week is a sketch challenge, and this is the sketch we had to work with:

I love it when a card comes together really quickly and that was definitely the case here. This was my first play with the Broadway Bound Suite of products (p.69). I've used the stamp set, dies and Designer Series Paper.
  • I've drawn my colour palette straight from the Broadway Bound Designer Series Paper - Basic Black, Lovely Lipstick, Grey Granite and Lemon Lime Twist.
  • A splash of gold adds a touch of glamour. The word 'wish' has been cut from the Broadway Lights framelits from Gold Foil. I've snipped a little party hat for it to wear!
  • My little banner has been stamped with words from the Broadway Birthday stamp set
  • My circle has been die-cut from the Stitched Shapes framelits.
  • I decided on a black card base rather than white, for a bit more drama.
I hope you like my card. Check out what the other talented stampers have come up with HERE. Don't forget you can play along over on the facebook page!

My Alaska Swap Card

I am coming to you today courtesy of a scheduled blog post while I am cruising through the Inside Passage in Alaska! This trip is completely paid for by Stampin' Up! and we always get so spoilt. One of the fun parts of the trip is swapping with other Demonstrators. We all hand in 26 cards and get the same number back, from Demonstrators all over the world.
This was my swap card. I wanted to go a little bit Aussie, so I've used the kangaroo from Animal Outing. I've omitted the koala in her pouch and popped a little stitched heart in there (in Lovely Lipstick). The leaves are part of the Animal Friends framelits, and I've also used them to cut out the kangaroo. The "I love roo" sign is a mixture of stamp sets and dies (listed below). The Stamparatus made light work of making those!
Hopefully all the other swappers like my card!

Garden Impressions Wattle

This month is the month to stock up on your favourite Designer Series Paper. Stampin' Up! is having a Paper Sale and it's Buy 3, get 1 Free on selected designs, including the one I've used here.
This design from the Garden Impressions paper reminds me of wattle...maybe that's me wishing for Spring to hurry up and get here!
I've also used another one of my favourite new products - the Delicate Lace Edgelits. These beautiful borders really add an extra special something to an otherwise plain card.
My colour scheme is Blueberry Bushel, Night of Navy and So Saffron.
I hope you're having a great day!

CCMC519 Abstract Impressions

It's Thursday, and that means it's Challenge time again over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com.
This week is a colour challenge, and these are the colours we had to work with:

These colours said "Tropical Escape" to me, and what a co-incidence, we have a new Designer Series Paper Stack called exactly that. My two banner pieces are from that paper.
The rest of my card is just simple stamping...even though it looks a little like an Impressionist Painting. That's the Abstract Impressions stamp set, doing all the hard work for me!

I hope you like my card. Check out what the other talented stampers have come up with HERE. Don't forget you can play along over on the facebook page!
