For a Friend

Here's a simple little card I made recently for a friend who's going through a difficult time at the moment:

I used a Sketch Challenge for the layout (which I can't find now for the life of me!). The rest of the card evolved from some scraps on my desk...I stamped some outline images so that I could have a play with my Blendabilities, and this one was the perfect size to use on this card.
The Project Life grid cards are such a bargain - $5.95 for 50 - and they add a little 'wow' to your card with no extra effort at all.
This pretty colour combination is Coastal Cabana, Strawberry Slush and Crisp Cantaloupe.

Confetti Ribbon

When I find a colour combination that I like, I am sometimes guilty of using it to death. With that caveat out of the way, here is today's card:

I've inked up the stamp from Amazing Birthday using markers - Crushed Curry, Bermuda Bay and Melon Mambo. I love the rainbow effect. But then I suffered a dilemma common to cardmakers.... Which colour ribbon to use? (I know, first world problems, right?) I couldn't decide, so I went with all three! I made confetti 'ribbon'! I made the confetti using the Fringe Scissors. Just cut a fringe and then snip across it at 90 degrees to make little squares of confetti. To attach it to your card, just run a piece of Sticky Strip where you want the confetti to stick and press it into place. Voila, Confetti Ribbon!
Happy Monday...I hope your week is ridiculously amazing!

Christmas Cheer Stamp-a-Stack

It's Christmas Stamp-a-Stack time again this week. I can't believe that this is my second-last Christmas cardmaking class for the year... *gulp* I'd better get cracking on my Christmas cards!

I chose Garden Green and Very Vanilla as my colour scheme for these cards, and vintage-d it up a bit with some Sahara Sand and a dash of gold.

'Cheat' Shaker Card

Shaker cards are lots of fun to give and receive, but they can be quite fiddly to make. I call this a 'cheat' Shaker Card. It's been made using the Sweet Treat Cups. It's quick and effective and much easier than fiddling with layers, window sheets and mounting tape. The Shaker 'bits' are paper confetti, made using the Fringe scissors - simply cut a fringe and then cut across it at 90 degrees to snip tiny pieces of confetti.
I made this card before we had the Stars Embossing Folder, so to make my star background, I've glued punched-out stars to a plain piece of cardstock. It's a great trick when your background is a bit plain but you don't want anything too busy.
I love this bright and cheery colour combination - Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry.

Mosaic Tile Technique #2

This is the other card we're making in this week's Technique Classes. Again, I've used the Flashback DSP on this card (love this paper...it's great for 'boy' cards!). I've also used the camera from the Traveler stamp set (another great 'boy' set!).
The real feature of this card is the Mosaic effect on the main panel. I can't reveal too many secrets (I don't want to spoil it for my class ladies) but I will say it involves rubber scraps!

Mosaic Tile Technique #1

I'm looking forward to this week's technique classes. We're doing a couple of fun mosaic techniques, one using stamps (I'll show you that one next time) and this one using patterned paper. I've used the Flashback DSP on this card, and Smoky Slate Embossing powder for the "grout".

If you would like to learn this technique, I have a couple of spots in my Wednesday and Thursday morning classes. Email me to book in!

Blackberry Blooms

I made this card for a special someone's birthday a little while ago. I've made lots of cards colouring the Blended Bloom with Blendabilities, but you don't always need to watercolour this stamp. Here, I've sponged the colour on with a dauber. I've also stamped I Love Lace in the background. My colour scheme is Smoky Slate and Blackberry Bliss.

World of Dreams Stamp-a-Stack

World of Dreams was a stamp set that went straight on my wishlist as soon as I saw the catalogue. It's a beautiful set, with gorgeous silhouette images. This month it features as one of my Stamp-a-Stack sets. I've also used the Typeset Designer Series Paper.
The colours I've used here are Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze, Soft Sky and Mossy Meadow.
