Fringe Scissors Technique Class

The Fringe Scissors are an awesome tool that was introduced in the Occasions Catalogue. The Catalogue finishes TODAY!!! (how did that happen? Where has the first half of the year gone?)Thankfully the scissors are going to be available in our new Annual Catalogue (released TOMORROW!!!), but lots of other products aren't. Hop over to my Online Store or email me if you need anything from the Occasions Catalogue or current Annual Catalogue.
Here are the projects that we made in my recent Fringe Scissors Class:

Feathers...super quick and easy!

Button Flower...flat enough to sit on a card.
And here's my favourite... pom-poms! Perfect to decorate a box or 3D project:

Birthday Basics Stamp-a-Stack

I find inspiration in lots of places. In this case I found it in a gorgeous card that I received from the lovely Clare in Demo Support. Her version was notecard size, but apart from up-sizing it, I made very few changes.
I've loved the Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper. I make more birthday cards than any other, so I've used it A LOT. The colours are nice and bright, without being TOO "in your face"....and it's only $13.27 on the Retirement List (until the end of this month, or until it sells out).
While you're picking up a few packs of that, grab "Perfectly Penned"....that's the stamp set I used here, and one that I'm really going to miss. The clear mount set is sold out, but the wood mount is still available.
Lots of punches used here too!

Gently Falling Stamp-a-Stack

I like to showcase retiring stamp sets and colours in my June classes...it's always nice to have one last play before they are gone forever. Here I've used the "Gently Falling" stamp set for a set of Stamp-a-Stack Cards. I usually use Autumn tones with this stamp set, but I decided to try something a bit different this time - the colour combination is Soft Sky, Pear Pizzazz and retiring In Color Midnight Muse. This is a  2-step stamp set, so each image has an outline and a corresponding 'fill-in' image. I didn't 2-step my images for these cards. Instead, I stamped a random background pattern, using the 2 lighter colours for the fill-in, and Midnight Muse for the outline.
My Whisper White pieces are 14.3 x 9cm. After I stamped my background, I tore/cut the piece at about the 2/3 mark. It's a simple (and cheap!) way to add some interest. The sentiments are just placed along the tear line.
I think I'll be re-creating this design in lots of other colours with other stamp sets!

Farewell Field Flowers - Card 3

Here's the final Field Flowers card in the set of three. I've been crafting with stamps for years now (17 years...how crazy is that??) and it still never ceases to amaze me how different one stamp can look. This card is pretty far removed from the 'fine china' look of the last card...I've gone for striking and dramatic here.
To get this look, I've stamped in Whisper White craft ink on Basic Black cardstock. Once the ink has dried (you can speed up the process with a heat tool), colour over the image with regular coloured pencils or watercolour pencils. The image really 'pops' on the black background.

Farewell Field Flowers - Card 2

This was my favourite Field Flowers card (in blue, wouldn't you know it?). This is Marina Mist and Very Vanilla...it reminds me of fine china.
It's just a simple layout on a large square card, but sometimes I think simple is the best.

Farewell Field Flowers - Card 1

I've been busy getting ready for my new Catalogue Launch Party next Sunday. It's a pretty good life when "busy" equates to playing with new stuff :)
But...I'm not going to show you my new creations just yet. Instead, here's another card from the vault, that I thought I had better show you before everything on it retires! This was another card I had published in Cardmaking, Stamping and Papercraft magazine a while back. I had to use the "Field Flowers" stamp set 3 ways for a Stampers Challenge. For this card, I attempted to put a more masculine spin on it, using autumnal tones.
"Field Flowers" is on the Retirement List...if it hasn't sold out already!
To create the background effect, I 'swiped' my inkpads across a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock until I was happy with the effect. I used Cajun Craze and Early Espresso ink. It's a very quick and easy way to DIY patterned paper.
I'll be back soon to show you the other 2 cards I submitted.
