Sale-a-Bration Sun

I have a few more favourite Sale-a-Bration freebies to show you, before they are gone forever. My own personal fave would have to be the Banner Blast stamp set and matching Banner punch (OK, so that's 2 items but you can't ask me to separate them...they belong together!). I've used it in a slightly different way here, to make the rays of the sun. My sun is peeping out from behind Word Bubble framelit clouds. On one of the clouds I have stamped one of the cute little sentiments from the See Ya Later Sale-a-Bration stamp set.

I'm not normally a 'yellow' person, but this colour combination - Crushed Curry, Smoky Slate, Basic Grey and Whisper White - does make me happy :o)
I made this card for a special yellow-loving friend of mine. Madonna from Bold Badger Design made me some gorgeous wall vinyl for my Craft Space. I hadn't been able to find anything that I was completely happy with, and she was clever enough to custom make it for me. I love it!
You can see my Craft Room wall vinyl on my facebook page HERE (and you might like to 'like' my page while you're there!)

One week to go!

It's hard to believe that there's only one more week left to Sale-a-Brate!  Do you have a favourite free product from this year's selection? One of my favourites would definitely have to be the Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper.
One of my lovely customers challenged me to use the black pattern on a card, and this is what I came up with:

Black can be a tricky colour to work with, and this is quite a busy pattern. I've tried to balance it out by keeping the rest of the card quite simple. I've used the strong, simple design of lanterns in matching colours (Pool Party, Summer Starfruit, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding). I love the "Happy Congratulations" stamp set in the Occasions Catalogue... the pretty lanterns work for any occasion. I've made mine a birthday card, using a sentiment from "Wetlands".

TIP: a little paper piercing around the Large Oval Punch adds a border - a nice finishing touch when your sentiment is a little small for the punched area. I've also added a tiny heart from the Owl Builder Punch.

Card-in-a-Box Zoo Babies

Happy Friday to you!
Here's the third card-in-a-box that I made...a baby card this time for my cousin's brand new little baby girl Jasmine:

This one was lots of fun to make (I think baby cards always are!). I've stepped a little outside regular baby colours and used the Watercolour Wonder DSP spotty pattern. My Zoo Babies animals are stamped in Smoky Slate, Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral, Island Indigo and Gumball Green.
The little monkeys are getting up to some hijinks in this card-in-a-box!

Card-in-a-Box goes Troppo!

This is the second card-in-a-box that I made:

I made this one for my cousin's birthday. He was having a "Hawaii 5-0" theme for his 50th birthday.
Not owning any Hawaiian-themed stamps, I had to be a bit creative with what I had. I pulled some different stamps from a few different sets - leaves from Fabulous Florets, a flower from Morning Meadow and a little toucan from Zoo Babies. I've gone with a tropical colour scheme of Gumball Green, Tangerine Tango and Crushed Curry.

Card in a Box Week - Fresh Prints

I have jumped on the Card-in-a-Box bandwagon, boots and all! I had been seeing so many gorgeous creations around, that I had to give it a go myself and once I started I just couldn't stop. Due to many requests, I am running a class this week where we will be making this:

These cards fold flat and can be popped into a regular envelope, but then open up to make an impressive display piece.
I've used the Fresh Prints Paper Stack, along with the Simple Stems stamp set (both on page 33 of the Occasions Catalogue). Some of the stamps in the set co-ordinate with the Secret Garden framelits, which made the cutting job a little less arduous!
I enjoyed making this one so much that I made 2 more of these (in quite different styles!) for some very special people. I'll show you those next time.

Too Much Happy

This is a motto I think everyone should live by - "You can never have too much happy"

It's a stamp in the Yippee-Skippee stamp set (page 37 of the Annual Catalogue), and it's one that I use a lot! I've stamped it in a happy colour - Calypso Coral and used an even happier colour - Daffodil Delight (marker) - to highlight the word "happy". I've also used these 2 colours, plus a dash of Crisp Cantaloupe to sponge ink on the flower from Sale-a-Bration stamp set Petal Parade.

The pretty shape that I've stamped on is from the Apothecary Accents framelit dies (Annual Catalogue page 187). And the gorgeous background paper is Watercolour Wonder DSP (Occasions Catalogue page 23).

I hope you have a happy Friday, and an even happier weekend!

Sweet Sorbet Chalkboard Frame

This is the other card we are making in my Technique Class tonight and tomorrow:

I just love this saying...."life doesn't have to be perfect to be wonderful". I am always telling my class ladies this about stamping too - handmade cards are always appreciated, even if they aren't stamped perfectly.

I've used the Hardwood background again (can you tell this stamp is becoming a firm favourite??) to make my frame, and I've even given it mitred corners to make it look authentic. The extra line bordering the inside of the frame is quickly and easily done with a ruler and the Chalk marker.
The little banner, background papers and other embellishments are all made using Sweet Sorbet Sale-a-Bration freebies...gotta love free stuff!
