CCMC652 Corner Bouquet

It's Thursday, and that means it's Challenge time again over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com. Sadly, for me, this will be my last week as a Create with Connie and Mary Challenge Team Member. Life has just been too crazy for me lately and something had to give. I hope to be back in the future though!

This week is a colour challenge, and these are the colours we had to work with:

I wasn't sure about these colours when I first saw them, but once I started stamping with them, I really liked the effect. I chose the Corner Bouquet stamp set, and I used the baby wipe technique to make the image multi-coloured. To do this, just make your own temporary inkpad from a folded baby wipe. Apply drops of colour with a reinker, and then it is ready to use as an inkpad. You can concentrate the different colours where you want them. For example here I used more Just Jade in the lower left corner.

I used another Sale-a-Bration set for the sentiment - it's from Heal Your Heart. I've been using this one a lot. I just love the font. 

I must confess that I did cheat a little - my twine is Misty Moonlight rather than Seaside Spray. I did use my Whisper White ink to lighten it a little! The background paper is from the Hydrangea Hill pack.

CCMC651 Berry Best

This week is a sketch challenge, and this is the sketch we had to work with:

There's less than 2 weeks of Sale-a-Bration left (can you believe it?). So, my mission is to use all my Sale-a-Bration items as much as possible before they are gone forever! On this card, I've managed to squeeze in 2 of them - The Berry Blessings stamp set and the Oh So Ombre Designer Series Paper. 

I used Blackberry Bliss and Granny Apple Green as my colour scheme, and I changed the Square format to standard A6.

CCMC650 Notebook into Card

It's Thursday, and that means it's Challenge time again over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com. This week is a colour challenge, and these are the colours we had to work with:

If this card looks familiar to you, then your Sale-a-Bration brochure is probably as well-thumbed as mine! This card is actually CaSEd from the notebook on page 13. I've turned it into a card instead.

I didn't change much - I used the 3 colours in our challenge obviously, and I added a sentiment (from the Touch of Ink stamp set). The butterfly is also from this set. I think it looks beautiful coloured in these 3 colours (I used Blends). I also really like the vellum circle behind it, to add a touch of softness.

CCMC649 Hee Haw!

This week is a sketch challenge, and this is the sketch we had to work with:

I thought some cute faces in the windows would work well this sketch, and the Darling Donkeys fit the bill perfectly. There's one for each window and one window for their chit chat! Who knew that "Hee Haw" means "You're the Best"?!

I coloured these guys using Grey Granite, Petal Pink and Soft Suede Blends. I used Stitched Rectangles Dies to cut them out. The patterned paper in the background is from Snail Mail.

CCMC648 A Pop of Colour

It's Thursday, and that means it's Challenge time again over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com. This week is a colour challenge, and these are the colours we had to work with:

I love black and white, with a pop of colour, and I was so excited when I saw that we have a Black and White Designer Series Paper set in our Mini Catalogue. The True Love Designer Series Paper has very versatile patterns on one side and beautiful images, perfect for colouring, on the other. On this card I've made use of both!

I chose a subtle pattern, with a black base for the background, and cut out some flowers to act as a feature. I decided to use Magenta Madness as my 'pop' of colour....and it certainly does pop! I coloured the flowers with Blends, leaving the leaf uncoloured.

The sentiment is from A Touch of Ink,  a Sale-a-Bration stamp set. I stamped it on a punched circle. To bring in a bit more Magenta Madness, I added a border using the Be Mine Stitched Dies. I use this particular die a lot.

CCMC647 Darling Donkey

This week is a sketch challenge, and this is the sketch we had to work with:

How cute is this little guy? He is a Darling Donkey, from the Darling Donkeys Sale-a-Bration set.

I have coloured him with Blends and layered him on the Berry Delightful Designer Series Paper (also a Sale-a-Bration item).  I think these checks add a bit of a country feel, and I've echoed them with the Absolutely Argyle embossing folder. 

For the sentiment, I stamped the words 4 times and embossed them in white. They were surprisingly easy to line up on the cardstock strip!

CCMC646 A Touch of Ink

It's Thursday, and that means it's Challenge time again over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com. This week is a colour challenge, and these are the colours we had to work with:

The hardest thing about having new stamps to play with is deciding which ones to ink up first! For this colour challenge, I decided on the pretty flowers and leaves in A Touch of Ink.  

This 2-step stamp set makes it so easy to make quick cards. I used full-strength colour for the outline image and stamped-off once for the bold image. The sentiment I've used is from the same set.

The patterned paper I've used is from Fine Art Floral, in the Mini Catalogue. I used a piece of vellum across the front for a touch of softness. The ribbon is from the Flowers for Every Season Combo pack.

CCMC645 Paper Blooms

This week is a sketch challenge, and this is the sketch we had to work with:

This card is all about Sale-a-Bration. I love having new products to play with, and it's even better when they're free! For this card, I've used the Paper Blooms Designer Series Paper - all of the patterned pieces are from that pack, and so are the flowers, which I've fussy cut.

The sentiment is another Sale-a-Bration item - it's from the Heal Your Heart stamp set. Isn't the font just stunning? I rounded the corners using the Detailed Trio Punch.

The ribbon I've used is from the Ornate Garden Ribbon Combo pack.

CCMC644 Old and New

Happy New Year's Eve! It's Thursday, and that means it's Challenge time again over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com. This week is a colour challenge, and these are the colours we had to work with: 

As befits New Year, I'm using a bit of something old and a bit of something new on my card this week. For the 'old' we have the retiring Snowflake Splendor Designer Series paper, but I've made it new with the Painted Texture 3D embossing folder (in the upcoming Mini). You'll be seeing a lot more of this one! I love the painterly texture.

I've popped on a dragonfly, from the Dragonfly Garden stamp set (from the Upcoming Mini), and I've dressed him up with some Silver Metallic Mesh ribbon (retiring). I also added some Elegant Faceted gems and painted his wings with Blends and a coat of Wink of Stella.

CCMC643 Joy to the World

I think one of the best and most versatile Christmas stamp sets in our Store is actually not in any Catalogue....it's the Joy to the World Paper Pumpkin stamp set. I think of it as a $37 stamp set with a card kit thrown in for free!

The patterned paper I've used here is from the Most Wonderful Time Product Medley. It's on Sale at the moment for $73.20 (usually $122.00).

CCMC642 A Merry Hello

It's Thursday, and that means it's Challenge time again over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com. This week is a colour challenge, and these are the colours we had to work with: 

I decided that the Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper was perfect for these colours, and I had fun playing with a cute Christmas stamp set for this week's challenge.

This adorable image and sentiment is from the A Merry Hello Stamp Set. This is a host stamp set that is only available with Stampin’ Rewards (any group or individual order of $250 or more). It's a 2-Step Stampin’ set; it allows you to layer two or more images to create one final image with extra texture and dimension in the colours you want. For this card, I decided to colour my image with Blends instead - one of the things I like about 2-step sets is you have both options available, either quick stamping or relaxing colouring!

I used my new copy of the January-June Mini Catalogue for sketch inspiration, and I've taken this layout from a card on page 8.

CCMC641 Warm and Toasty

It's Thursday, and that means it's Challenge time again over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com.

This week is a sketch challenge, and this is the sketch we had to work with:

I love this Warm and Toasty stamp set. The cute images just bring a smile to my face every time I use them. This little reindeer is so sweet. I coloured him with my Blends and cut him out, and popped him on a Stitched Shapes Circle

If you're after some Christmas DSP in classic Christmas colours and designs, then take a look at 'Tis the Season. It's 6x6 size, so it's perfect for cardmaking, and it's so versatile and easy to use. I even snipped the holly sprig from the paper as a little extra embellishment. The colours are Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, Real Red, Shaded Spruce, Basic Black and Whisper White.

I popped on a few clear Elegant Faceted Gems, in keeping with the sketch.

CCMC640 Celebrate the Season

It's Thursday, and that means it's Challenge time again over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com. This week is a colour challenge, and these are the colours we had to work with: 

I went straight to the Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper for this card. I had fun snipping out some of the cute images, and building a scene.

I don't use Poppy Parade very often - I tend to gravitate towards the deeper reds like Cherry Cobbler and Real Red. But I really like the brightness it brings to the Misty Moonlight/Old Olive combination. 

The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Christmas - one of my most used sentiment sets.

CCMC639 Poinsettia Place Christmas

It's Thursday, and that means it's Challenge time again over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com.
This week is a sketch challenge, and this is the sketch we had to work with:

I keep coming back to the Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper. It's definitely my favourite of this year's Christmas Papers. I love all the soft shades of greens and browns in it. I'm planning on using it for my own Christmas cards this year...which I really need to get cracking on!!

For this card, the only thing I've stamped is the sentiment (from the Best Year stamp set)

Apart from the fussy cutting, this was a really quick card to put together. Just as well I enjoy cutting things out! I gave the Poinsettia some extra depth by cutting out an extra centre and popping it up on dimensionals. 

I added a few finishing touches to take this card to the next level - I used my Wink of Stella to give the petals a subtle shimmer, I used Shimmery Crystal Effects on the stamens, and added a few of my fave Elegant Faceted Gems too.

CCMC638 A Cocktails Kind of Day

It's Thursday, and that means it's Challenge time again over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com. This week is a colour challenge, and these are the colours we had to work with:

I can't seem to stop playing with the Nothing's Better Than bundle. Hopefully you aren't sick of it yet!!

These colours just said cocktails to me, so I went with it. The retro feel of this colour combination works well with this set too. I used a Blender Pen and ink to colour the image, and then applied a coat of Shimmery Crystal Effects to make it glossy.

I echoed the shading of the drink with 3 strips of cardstock that I stamped with the little star stamp.

CCMC637 Warm and Toasty

This was my first play with the Warm and Toasty stamp set...how cute are these guys? I just love his cheery wave!

I've also used the Snowflake Splendour DSP, and I took my colour scheme from there - Misty Moonlight, Pool Party and Whisper White. Colouring was easy - they only need a touch of colour. I used Pool Party and Misty Moonlight Blends

CCMC636 Whiskey Business

It's Thursday, and that means it's Challenge time again over at www.createwithconnieandmary.com. This week is a colour challenge, and these are the colours we had to work with:

I wish you could see this Whiskey Business card in real life. I used Shimmery Crystal Effects on the decanter and the glasses so they are super glossy and very real-looking. It's very easy to do. First I stamped in Stazon, cut them out and coloured with my Blends. Then I applied a coating of the Crystal Effects, and left it to dry for a couple of hours. Before adhering them to my card, I did a wash of grey to 'ground' them and also gave my background piece the Subtle Embossing folder treatment, and took a 'bite' out of the corners with a small circle punch.

In the background I used a piece of Basic Grey Designer Series Paper (from the Neutrals 6"x 6" pack). I flagged the ends of my sentiment and brought in some Pumpkin Pie with a narrow strip of cardstock. A swirl of gold thread (from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack) is the perfect finishing touch.
