Paper Pumpkin Coming Soon!

Have you heard? Paper Pumpkin is coming to Australia! In the US, it is a subscription service, where a new kit is delivered to your door every month. Although we aren't getting the subscription, we do have a chance to join in the fun with a one-off kit in May. Shelli Gardner, board chair and cofounder of Stampin’ Up!, has partnered with Paper Pumpkin to create a limited edition, nature-focused, Shelli-inspired kit.  
The look and feel of this kit is all Shelli. It’s elegant and feminine, and full of beautiful natural details. And the box it comes in? There's no way that's going in the recycling bin!

This is more of a fun and social stampin' session than a class - we will open and assemble our Paper Pumpkin Kits together! I'll provide blocks for your stamps and any assistance you need.
Then we will have a cuppa and a bite to eat (and there may be some new Catalogue sneak peeks too!)

Little Easter Birdhouse

I wanted to make a little birdhouse as one of my Easter projects this year, and I thought the Curvy Keepsake box would make a cute little birdhouse. Rather than re-inventing the wheel (or the birdhouse!), in my internet travels (thanks, Pinterest), I came across this one by the very clever Jessica Winter in Austria and used it as my inspiration.
It holds a little cello bag of Easter Eggs...that have so far remained uneaten! We'll be making this little birdhouse in my upcoming Project Class.

Friends and Flowers Easter Tag

I always like to have a few cute Easter tags on hand, ready to attach to an Easter gift. When I saw the tag on page 46, I knew I had to make my own version.
I've attached mine to a Polka Dot Cellophane Cone, filled with some candy-coated Easter Eggs.

Honeycomb Happiness Easter Chick

Easter is pretty early this year, so I thought I'd better get cracking (eggs...cracking...geddit?! haha I'm 'cracking' myself up...ok I'll stop now!) on some Easter designs.
We'll be making this card in my Easter classes in a couple of weeks, along with a couple of cute gift-giving ideas.
You don't always need Easter-specific products to make Easter projects. The little chick from the Honeycomb Happiness stamp set makes a cute Easter chickie. The soft colours of the Birthday Bouquet DSP work really well for Easter, and I pulled out an oldie-but-a-goodie all occasion sentiment set for the greeting.
A spot of watercolouring, and you have a cute Easter card.

Card in a Box Week - Fresh Prints

I have jumped on the Card-in-a-Box bandwagon, boots and all! I had been seeing so many gorgeous creations around, that I had to give it a go myself and once I started I just couldn't stop. Due to many requests, I am running a class this week where we will be making this:

These cards fold flat and can be popped into a regular envelope, but then open up to make an impressive display piece.
I've used the Fresh Prints Paper Stack, along with the Simple Stems stamp set (both on page 33 of the Occasions Catalogue). Some of the stamps in the set co-ordinate with the Secret Garden framelits, which made the cutting job a little less arduous!
I enjoyed making this one so much that I made 2 more of these (in quite different styles!) for some very special people. I'll show you those next time.

Goodbye Timeless Portrait DSP

I love making these handbags out of Designer Series paper. I use them all the time for gifts. This one is 12x12 size, but they are cute in a smaller version too. You can make them any size you like.
Here's one I made using the Retiring Timeless Portrait Designer Series Paper, Retiring Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon, and Retiring Round Tab Punch:

I used velcro to hold it closed. There are lots of instructions around the place for these (often called a "Mini note purse"). Email me if you'd like a copy of the instructions I wrote for my class.

Final DSP Project

Criss Cross DSP Wallet

This is another Project that I taught in my DSP Project Class last month. This idea was shared by Michelle le Breton at a recent team meeting I attended. You can find instructions on the Scor Pal website. It's called a Criss Cross Photo Wallet on the site, but this wallet can be used for so much more than just photos. I takes one sheet of 12x12 paper, and is so easy to make.

Designer Series Envelope

I always find at this time of year that I have a ton of patterned paper that is soon to be retired. I know that I'm going to want to buy ALL of the new designs, so using some of my stash up means that I have the perfect excuse to buy more! :o) I thought some of my class attendees might feel the same, so with that in mind, I ran a DSP Projects Class last month. I showed some different ways to make use of our Designer Series Paper.

Here is one of them - a Designer Series Envelope made using the Twitterpated DSP from the Mini:

The envelope is pretty enough that a simple notecard is all that you need to put inside:

The flap is secured in place with a small framelit, popped up on dimensionals.

You can make these envelopes in any size. To work out how large your piece of DSP needs to be, take the length of your card and add 3cm; multiply the width by 2 and add 3cm. Eg for a 12cm x 10cm notecard, your DSP would need to be 15 x 23cm. For an A5 folded card (14.8 x 10.5cm), your DSP would need to be 17.8 x 24cm

To make it into an envelope, in portrait orientation, score 1cm from each side. Put your card in the middle but slightly more towards the top and score above and below it. Cut off the top 2 corner pieces. Round the top 4 corners if desired. Fold the side pieces in and apply tape to the lower flap to form an envelope.
